Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson

So, before seeing Sherlock Holmes for some reason I really had Homes pegged as an E... But after seeing it, it seems like he's more of an I... Especially with the way they did the movie. I always figured he was an S since he was so in touch with his surroundings. I'm not sure about T/F... I guess I lean more towards T because of the way he is so honest when telling someone just how he figured out what they were hiding or who they really were.... And I'm hung up on the J/P... I seem to struggle with that one the most...

And I have absolutely no clue on Watson... Anyone care to jump in and lay a type on these two?

    Sherlock is
    EXTJ in the books
    ENTP in the movie

Robert really likes to make his characters himself.

Watson is ISFX in the books
Watson is ISTJ in the movie

Sherlock is an ESTJ (effiency and organization primary concern; Si utilized for the Te) with exceptional Si.

ESTJ - Te, Si, Ne, Fi.

;D He definitely wasn't in the movie.

But yeah, ESTJ would be my guess for the books too. I'd also say he has pretty high Ne for an ESTJ. Truly gifted.

ESTJ = third process is Ne, so well-developed, like a genius should be. :) He was clearly very, very deductive in his reasoning process, though. And no, don't give me that deconstruction of his reasoning to induction! It just narrows potential for categorization of this stuff!

    In the movie,
Sherlock Holmes acts like an ENTP, although there are hints that he may be in fact introverted.
    Watson seems like an ISFJ

As mentioned in the house thread. Not being a people person is not introverted. I've been confused as an introvert because I don't talk to people and like to keep to myself and my obsessions unless I need energy. However, I need people for my energy and jump at the chance to go out.

:D I think Watson is probably harder to type than Sherlock.

The clear introversion/extroversion concept was devised with Myer's desire for Jung's theory to be marketable to people. FTL with simplicity being profitable. xP I'd write a far longer, developed rant, but I really can't be bothered.

the definition of introversion/exstroversion is not of where we get energy. that is just an effect, a symptom. the definition is how we look at the world, where extroverts see the observable things as directly related to their identity (therefore they must act upon it, and that is why they are interested in small chat to get to know how other people see them and the world). they see the external world as truth(what there is - it must be explored). introverts see the world as something that is not real(or suspect) and absorbs impressions(they arent interested in small chat as it is threatening their individuality)

Hmm. I never watched the movie. I was too offended by the way they made Sherlock seem like more of an action figure than an intellectual. I am very much against people making Sherlock anything else than he originally is.

By my own typing, I figured Sherlock was an I[N/S]TP.

I think his N and S are pretty close to being balanced.
