Anyone else who is procrastinating to the extreme? And I mean EXTREME... I can procrastinate important things for years and it's incredibly handicapping. The worst thing is that once you start procrastinating something it automatically leads to more procrastination, so it becomes this vicious cycle. I've tried to explain to people but nobody understands. Either they don't understand the magnitude of the problem and tell me that everybody procrastinates sometimes or they think that I'm lazy or lack will power and that it's a self-made problem and tell me I should "just stop procrastinating and do it". Needless to say, neither of the responses are very helpful... Is there anyone else who has the same problem or used to have the same problem but learned how to tackle it?

This thread should probably be called "INFP EXTREME procrastination". Too bad you can't edit the title of the thread...

Yeah, I still need to get down and learn to be potty trained one of these days. Buying all these nappies/diapers is really turning out expensive.

More seriously... Well yes, I procrastinate quite a bit, but I don't know if you could consider it extreme. If I ever procrastinate anything for years, it's usually non-essential things. Like learning to drive (I'm hoping to never have to. Don't like cars anyway.) D'you have any examples?

I procrastinate the big things, but only because I need time to think them through before I do them.

If they are important issues they take time to plan, figure out, plan what may go wrong, how I will fix them if they do go wrong, and for me to generally stress over them.

The little things I can do without thought, because if I mess them up no one gets hurt.

Well, I don't want to go into particulars but I'm currently procrastinating to go to the doctor and get something potentially dangerous checked out, and I've been doing it now for a year. I would go see a psychologist but i just keep procrastinating it. Seriously. Trust me, I know I have a problem... I think I have ADHD PI ( more commonly known as ADD) and that my unhealthy behavior is a result of it. So why don't I go see someone about it?? All I know is, I'm driving myself crazy...

If it's a health issue you should probably get it checked out, mate... I do understand where you're coming from though. I have a mild phobia of hospitals, doctors and anything medical-related (I think it's the smells, and the white everywhere) so I avoid going unless it's serious enough. In your case, it probably is, by the sound of it.

I have Multiple Sclerosis and haven't been to see my neurolgist in over a year. One of those "if I avoid it, it will go away" kinda things.

Sadly, it isn't working. Just go! (do as I say, not as I do- /end Jedi trick)

My Dad was an IxFP and was a terrible procrastinator. He put off going to the doctors and paid for it with his life. I'm not kidding. Get to the bloody doctors if it's serious.

Hehe, same thing here, I should be studying for my university semester exams but instead I'm raiding the web once again. As usual I'll probably postpone one or two of them to the re-examination period in august just for the sake of procrastinating (though I usually get high grades, just never all at once). It's a compulsive thing, really and it sucks.
Doctor appointements are probably the only thing in life I'll never postpone, severe hypochondria does run in my family though.

I'm not a procrasinator. I just live very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, slowly.
