    Fashion inspiration and blogs

For all PC members who are into fashion, lets create a small corner for fashion and fashion related topics. Ideally this can be interdisciplinary, if a movie or song inspires your fashion sense, then by all means post it!

Lately I have been looking into annexing these to my scarfdom:

I am also into to the grunge dress revival.

Grunge is possibly the best fashion there is. Its comfortable, cheap, and best of all its an awesome look. Any female that is into grunge fashion can call cupid right now!

Grunge fashion? Isn't that kind of an oxymoron?

I was never all that aware of fashion until the few months when I was living with my ESFJ aunt, who attempted to educate me on the topic. Now I consider it one more form of artistic expression. Soon I plan to start designing my own clothes, because other people seem interested in my unique personal style.

I've been doing that since I was a kid...got a sewing machine when I was 9 and loved it. Another thing I do is I'll buy a piece of clothing that I like the basic form of and take it apart and add my original touches to it, then put it together for a whole new 'original' piece. Or sometimes I'll just add decorative, upgrading touches to an otherwise boring garment.

I am loving the new silhouettes that for some months have been appearing everywhere.. High waist full skirts with bodysuits or loose tees. There is something adorable about the umbrella theme.

Grunge is an aesthetic, and as such it has its own trends, preferences, beauty ideals etc. Anti-fashion is still fashion :)

Agreed :) It can also be a statement. I guess that goes with the "ideals" you mentioned.

    Grunge

    • BEAUTY IDEAL: natural, nonchalant, defiant "I dont care about fashion, I dont follow trends" (Grunge stood for fear of the future as well as ecological awareness, a feeling of helplessness, and the desperate search for new values...)
    • AESTHETIC: mismatched patterns, flannel, tons of layers (throw it on look), unkempt look, chipped nails, jeans, band tees, organic textures, relaxed (as in oversized, second hand clothes, etc) earth tones color palette.
    • IDOLS: grunge musicians such as Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love, Kim Deal, Kim Gordon :P and others like Drew Barrymore
    • EXAMPLES OF 90s GRUNGE AND THE CURRENT GRUNGE REVIVAL

Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis 1993:

    Vogue editorials:

So as you can see, it was way more institutionalized than even I thought.

Nowadays theres a 90s revival going on with our own take on their fashion trends. This is my favorite spin on garage (cheeky, urban and slickified)

    Luella S/S 08

Then Kate Moss for Topshop F/W 2009

Same thing with Marc Jacobs S/S 2010, and many others. I will post later about this but from the internet blogs and street style perspective
