I text people when we have something to do together. And I use stupid text speak because it's easier. ::hides from grammar police::

I do text but I hate text language because I struggle understand what the hell the letters and numbers stand for. If it's bad enough to struggle with problems on normal language, imagine with text language.

I use Instant Message actually at work all the time, since I work with a lot of people nationally. I have actually made close friends with people I have never met in real life because of it.

It can go either way - sometimes texting is a way to avoid a phone call if you're lazy or just don't feel like talking but I think of it as just a different way of communicating. Although it can lead to issues if people don't hear the "tone" of your text or message. Also, sometimes you just need to pick up the phone and call - you can't have a heart to heart over a text.

    The Web of Language

This blog is very cool for those of you who like texting. OMG, hp u al ♥ n njoy t
I realize this is an old comment but stuff like this makes me want to scream. Value judgments on natural evolution of language

I enjoy texting but usually I have one person I'll text a lot and everyone else is kind of incidental. I actually prefer long essay-like exchanges for a bit but sometimes they're overwhelming if the other person is too quick to respond or there's an uneven investment in the conversation. Short, silly texts have their place but I'm also horrible at responding in a timely manner and don't like those much.

    Also

DOES ANYONE EVEN USE TXT TALK ANYMORE
I feel like people who complain about it either:
    1) Don't actually ever experience text speak but just hate it by principle or
    2) Are old, use brick phones, and are just entering the world of texting

Come on. Most people have smart phones. Good luck putting number-letter hybrids through on that shit.
