Can an ENTJ be a slob?

I've taken about 5 MB tests... and every one of them says i'm an ENTJ. 95% of what it reads does apply to me.. i'm very out-going, like to be in charge, like to be creative and fix solutions to long term problems, etc.

But, one big difference seems to be that most ENTJ's are "obsessively neat". That is totally not me at all. If you looked at my office, it's like a bomb went off. I have piles of stuff everywhere (I can always find things.. no one else ever could though).

I do have a theory about this though.. I keep all of my files, reports, papers, etc in my computer... I basically have a "paperless" desk. When people fax me something, or I have to actually print something out to review I don't really know what to do with it after i'm done. I don't see the logic behind making a file for something that is already saved in my computer, yet I'm not ready to throw it away in case I need it again in a while and I don't want to waste more paper printing it again.

And, to be honest - i'm not the most clean person outside of the office either... piles of clothes in the bedroom, etc. I'm getting better... but my husband is a total neat freak, so I pretty much just let him clean things up.

Any insite on to this? Also - I took the Enneagram Test - and i'm all over the board there:

    1 - 4
    2 - 5
    3 - 6
    4 - 0
    5 - 4
    6 - 3
    7 - 6
    8 - 5
    9 - 3

What the heck does that mean??

    Thanks! :)

    I can't offer a whole lot of insight, but my brother is an ENTJ and he's messy in his own way. As in, he hates seeing and living in mess and disorganization, but he recruits and coerces people to clean his surroundings for him. >_>;;

As for the Enneagram, I would suggest reading through the 9 types to see what sounds the most like you. I think that's more beneficial than the tests... According to the results though, it's saying you are probably either a 7w8 or a 3w2. Maybe start with those and see if they fit? Good luck, I'm sure someone else can be more helpful!

I think its more of an S/N issue, versus an ENTJ issue. I'm not too neat either. Its because I have new ideas and theories running through my head and dont spend too much time, if any, paying attention to my surroundings. ENTJS are organized, and structured in their own way and that way may not be obvious to people. Like you said you can always find things in your own office, even though it may look like a bomb went off. On a personal note. I dont put things on my computer, I prefer paper which I keep in color coded files. For me its easier than accessing a file on the computer.

    I'm pretty messy...
    I always intend on cleaning...
But I have all kinds of ideas going on that it becomes last priority...
I do know where everything is...
    At least most of it.

My best friend since we were 5 yo is an ENTJ......from 5 yo til now you can eat off her floors. She mops more than once per day......
However, if things get really really bad.....she is somewhat of a slob. **emotionally

I'm a clean P, it's far more than just messy vs unmessy.

I'm a messy ENTJ. That's not to say that I'm disorganized. I organize relentlessly when I think something is important. It's just that I don't consider most tasks that involve cleaning to be a priority. That's why I really need a hireling... er... I mean a maid.

    I sympathize with you.

I'm a very organized person, but actually cleaning is a different story. As long as everything is in its place I don't see the need to have it be particularly neat/clean.

For instance, I have an area for working, reading, getting dressed, etc (one room apt/dorm). As long as things are in their area / in storage bins, they can be haphazardly thrown about that area. I'm better with organizing intangible things like ideas. You may be too :)

    Thread necromancy:

I'm a neat freak in some aspects. I keep everything ordered, and the floors are clean (and he saw it and it was good)... but then, slowly, the layers of dust settle on top of everything, and I am really not engaged in that kind of detail maintenance.
