I'm known for my sarcastic, enthusiastic, zany sense of humor and goofiness. Someone posted in a thread there is no "off" button, and that is an apt description of me. I am able to look at myself objectively and laugh at myself. The only time my "goofiness" is a problem is when someone who does not know me well makes the error of thinking because of it that I am gullible or weak. They get an ugly reckoning.

Face it, anyone who does some of the things we do is funny. Just yesterday, I mowed a few acres, retilled a whole garden then decided the tiller wasn't doing an adequate job so went over it with a hoe barefooted with a knee brace on until I deemed the soil fine enough, then went to open my pool and realized I couldn't do it by myself and my friends were at work so I drove to a local convenience country store and just started asking people there for help opening my pool. Someone I didn't even know helped me do so. I see the hilarity in it all. I notice little things that many people don't that I find really funny.

People tell me I'm funny. My hubby thinks I'm a total goofball.

The humor tends to be satirical and observational - zinging one liners rather than telling jokes.

Think: Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock, or David Letterman cutting someone down with one sentence.

I haven't been here in a while how's life everyone?

Hello everyone! Do you guys feel like you engage in any sort of emotionally suppressive or avoidant behavior, and if so, could you please describe it? I'm talking about a long term coping mechanism, rather than a method you use to avoid displaying emotions when it's not appropriate. An example of an emotionally suppressive behavior is making a joke out of everything, so that you can't take anything too seriously, and an example of an emotionally avoidant behavior is habitually ending relationships even though there's nothing really wrong, because you don't want to become attached.

Perhaps suppressing? There are definitely things in my life that I could get very emotional about, but sadness and anger aren't productive, and I can choose to put them aside and enjoy my life.

I do end relationships quickly and frequently if I can see that they aren't going anywhere. It actually saves a lot of time and hurt for both parties.

Let's not forget that there are lunatics on the other end of the spectrum too.

Excuse me? I'm not saying that all ENTJs are the same - what I meant was AS A PERSON are you a playful person or a serious one (like ENTJs are stereotyped as). Of course I know that no type is the same. I am aware that MBTI doesn't have anything to do with every single detail of one's personality. Every one is different, no matter their type. I apologize for offending you, and I should have phrased that differently to make it more clear.

    Question:

If you were in charge of rewriting the ENTJ stereotypes / writing a unique ENTJ type description on a new MBTI website, what would you write (in short)?

What do you feel is actually intrinsic to ENTJ as a type?

I would find a way to make it obvious to everyone that their estj or estp boss isn't an entj.
