    ESFJ Loner

I was just discussing with Grey how ESFJs can be independent individuals. Possibly loners. According to mypersonality.info, Donald Duck is considered an ESFJ. In all of his episodes he is by himself, on his own side, much like how I was as a child. Can any ESFJs relate to lone ranging like this?
    Grey thanked this post.

    I can relate to this.

In my case, i love being around people but i also enjoy my time alone, be it reading a book, jumping in the car and just driving or whatever.

Last Friday i went to see Ludovico Einaudi in concert alone and i loved it .. It was my moment.

I think on the E/I front, i am pretty balanced.

Although in all honesty, i don't have many friends which is surprising as i can strike up an amazing conversation with a stranger but i have a harder time keeping these people in my life as friends.

I am not quite sure why that is.

Donald Duck isn't real, it's a fictional character that striked up similar to an ESFJ but is also a loner. I don't know how this could personally relate to an ESFJ IRL who's a loner.

A lot of the ones I met are actually outgoing and never to themselves. I've yet to meet one!

Me neither. Whenever I go to a large party of some sort, I'm almost always by myself, but I've meet and/or worked with a number of people who I am friendly with. So I wander around and wave to those people I know and talk with many different people that I know and get along with OK. I almost never set up get togethers or reach out to others outside of my own business. That can be for other reasons though such as being shy.

Please don't get me wrong, put me in a room full of people and i'll chat to complete strangers and usually we hit it off great. If i go to the pub after work (Tomorrow), i will have a laugh with my work colleagues but they are different to real friends as we all usually talk about work. It would be nice to meet someone and become friends based on mutual understandings, interests etc.

I suppose my lacks of friends is not due to being shy, lol but more because i am so independent. For once in my life, i am happy in my own skin and don't need other people to make me happy as that comes from inside although it would be nice to have some girlfriends.

So although i don't need people around me, i would like people around me .. See the difference?

I too don't mind being alone. Last Saturday night, I attended dinner theatre, by myself, and had a great time. I have done a lot of dating over the years, but there is usually some agenda on my date's mind, so the relationship usually doesn't last long. Yes, I too feel great in my own skin. Independent, but enjoy others' company, at times. Life is good !

I need alone time. For the most part I'm always out and about and chatting up everyone I encounter....However, I do go through phases where I just want to be alone and take time to myself. Every now and then I like to just curl up in bed with a good book and read, or put on some music and take a nice hot bath to unwind. So yes, while I may seem like I'm not happy unless I'm surrounded by people, I do enjoy being alone at least once or twice a week.

The ESFJ I know, his alone time is for texting. lol I think maybe older more mature ESFJs will go about enjoying alone time better, but will never prefer it.

I used to be that way... I was a texting fiend, and now I rarely text.... Sucks because I have a friend who is about 8 years younger than me that drives me nuts with text messages. He'll send three to my one text.

I definitely don't always prefer to be alone... I do prefer to be alone if I've got a lot on my mind and I'm stressed out. Most of the time I just prefer to be with a good friend than with a huge group though.

My ESFJ friend called himself a loner once.. I literally laughed at him for it.
Yeah, your E/I think depends on the preference. Usually I like to be alone, but eventually I'd rather go out and do something with someone. Though as I get older my tolerance grows thinner and thinner. ._.
