    ESFP and ISTJ

I'm a little bit fascinated with ESFPs, mostly because they're so different from ISTJs but somewhat similar at the same time (from what I understand, we take information in the same way, but we process it differently). Based on what I've read, a good friend of mine from high school sounds like she might be an ESFP; we were nothing alike but seem to understand each other really well. We still communicate, 10 years later. She really knows when I need my space, and I appreciate that she gets me out of my comfort zone every now and then.

What do you guys think of ISTJs? As friends? In relationships? As family? Etc...

Awesome people. My best friend is ISTJ and I have dated ISTJ before.

I enjoy the sense of humor and ISTJs can help me slow down a bit. We communicate really well - I get them revved up and they get me revved down. My auxiliary function is Fi and tertiary function is Te. So when my ISTJ friends want to debate we can debate and it's cool. (Not all ESFP would be cool with debating I don't think. But I like it.)

One of my parents was SJ and I had lots of trouble with the criticism even when it was well-meaning. Also there is a difference between subjective and objective. My parent would get stressed and start ordering me on THE right way to do something - when my view is more like there are many many "right ways" to do things. So we would clash over that. I had trouble with not feeling emotionally supported also. But now that I understand MBTI better I can rewrite the history and see how I was very cared for.

I think there can be points of tension when ESFP and ISTJ live together. SJ is about order, structure, planning and SP is about spontaneity, randomness. SP can also be much more social and get on the ISTJ's nerves. ESFP is conflict-avoidant and many ISTJ are not.

Overall I love how the personalities mesh, and the fun of these relationships outweighs the stuff I don't like so much.

I adore ISTJ's. My very best childhood friend is istj. She's great!!! We have had sooo much fun during the 23 years(!!!) that we been best friends. At times we've been apart, living in different places and so on, but we have always gotten back to each other.

She's so cool and I admire her. She seems quiet and like a "safety kinda girl" but she's WILD! LOL
She has a piercing in her tounge and she sky dives and drives a bike. And I know that she is at least as crazy about sex as I am :P She's actually the only person in the world with whom I can speak completely free about ANYTHING. She never judge (despite the J) she always give real good and sensible advices.
yeah we always have a good time, and many times she just laugh at me, because I say some crazy shit to someone, or doing something clumsy :) I was allways jealous at her when we were kids, coz all the boys were in loev with her, she was the good, pretty girl and I was class clown :P Eventually I grew into a woman who has no reason to be jealous of someone else getting all the boys.

And ISTJ men.... I love them too. I love the way they are centered within themselves, and the analytic style... me looove it.
Pretty sure I was working with one istj anastethic nurse yesterday. He is great (married though), focused, controlled. We made a superb team!
