Okay here's my question to other ESFPs

Can you ever have enough admiration? Or to put it another way, are you ever satisfied with the amount of praise you receive?

    I need a fan club!
    Haha, just kidding.
I think that I am happy with the amount of praise that I receive, although I think that I ought to win a prize for my Magnificent Mouse Catching skills (and I'm not even a cat).

This is my issue with ESFPs--their narcissism! I could never bring myself to give them a sincere compliment, just because they DEMAND IT.

Short-term, yes. But then the tank starts to empty and then I need to fill up again.

But what you're missing is that it's an essential part of our self-esteem. Think of what brings you self-esteem and then imagine someone saying they can't do that for you because you DEMAND it. We can't help being how we are, it's not really narcissism. In fact, below the surface most ESFPs are probably quite insecure a lot of the time. Hell, Chris Farley was so insecure he needed someone to praise him about once an hour or he got severely depressed and thinking no one liked him and he wasn't funny or entertaining to anyone. He's obviously an extreme example, but the principle is the same even among healthier ESFPs.

How would I know if I'm an ESFP? Just a question out of curiosity.

So, this is a longer post than I intended and I'll be the first to admit there is a bit of ranting in it. Please take the ranting as an indication of my desperation rather than as an insult though please. I really am looking for useful answers.

My business partner is an ESFP. It's the most infuriating experience I've had in my life. Working with her literally causes me meltdowns; a few non-functioning days and I just can't be around her. I think the only things we have in common are a love of wine & cheese and indignation for disrespectful people.

Don't get me wrong - she has a golden heart and seems to genuinely like everyone on first sight. I don't actually dislike her, despite how the next few paragraphs may sound.

But...our professional relationship is one of the most dysfunctional relationships I've had and believe me, I've had some dysfunctional relationships. So, my question to ENTJs is what is the best way to leverage your skills in a business environment? Ways to both get the most out of you and in an environment that you would enjoy?

My biggest personal issues are her ineptness with technology (there is no way around this unfortunately, she just has to learn it...even though it seems to push her ...and then me, like some chain reaction... to the brink of nervous breakdown), terrible communication skills (emails are barely legible due to her typing the way she would talk to you - which is to say jumps around to 10 different topics in one breath, that's right, minimal (if any) punctuation in there + she communicates emotions - not specifics - which can bite us in the bum sometimes) and a general unwillingness to work with me on analysing problems/inefficiencies with in the business and put systems in place to avoid later issues. I have no problem doing the analysing, planning etc (that's my bag!) but she listens, tells me how clever and brilliant I am (which by the way I hate...with a passion. Compliments empty me out, not fill me up) agrees that it's a great idea and that we should set it up immediately ..... Then she just continues doing whatever the hell she wants to do whenever the hell she wants to do it, continuing to generate all of the same problems we had just discussed and honestly does not seem to understand why I am upset. Her way of fixing this situation is to smother me in soothing talk/apologies and (worst of all) running herself down (which, needless to say infuriates me!!!!) rather than actually 1) acknowledging she went against what we agreed on 2) either DOING what we agreed, or (even better) looking back to the point at which she deviated, working out why the new system doesn't suit her and then telling me what the issue seems to be so that we (or I) can work out a new system that WILL work and then repeat this process as many times as possible until we have a happy, smoothly running business.

Ok, rant is over. Those are the specific problems I would like help with and I would really value your input. Thanks :)
