The friendliest people I ever met were in Belgium. I was stationed there for a year while in the military. I travelled to lots of other countries & spent 2 years in one but I quickly made friends in Belgium & their friends were friendly. It felt almost weird because in the USA it's a competition. Everyone checks each other out to see how they measure up. Who has more power socially. Who has more money, the bigger house, the cooler car, etc. Who's more alpha. Who has more attitude. My German aunt said drunk guys party in Germany but in Texas they fight. Guys live to establish dominance like pack animals where I grew up. Egos are at the center of every conversation. And the women? Observing, to select the biggest ego or cash cow. Maybe not everyone but most. I saw almost none of that 3 years in Europe, especially Belgium. If I were single I'd move there. I may be hyper-aware of this stuff as a male INFP. I do prefer the American style of government over any place in the world, though I can talk about the flaws in it all day long.

Only place I've lived, but for as crap as the weather is there's nowhere I'd rather live.

Sweden. I have lived shorter times in several countries as a visitor… but there's always something major dysfunctional I notice abroad.
Latest was Colombia, damn that country is a shithole compared to Sweden.

The Netherlands, not only because I've only really lived here, but people here at least aren't looking at me like I'm some sort of weirdo (which I am, but still )

The Netherlands is the best place in the world. I wish I could get back some time.

This makes me an official traitor from now on, but I'd say Sweden.

Swedish people are awfully friendly, which makes me suspicious of them, but also hopeful maybe I could be infected with their "life is alright" mentality. There's something fundamentally positive about them in my eyes, each one of them I have met during my conquest to enemy territory, met me with welcoming and curious and fun and natural attitudes. It's a cultural shock each time, I never get use to it, because I compare it to my local folks, who exchange judging glances, silent disapproval and then avoid each other. I'll never remove these goggles colored with blue and yellow.
