The Song Lyric for Your Mood Thread

Oh, come on. I can't be the only one who hears a line from a song or poem and immediately thinks, "Wow, is that ever perfect for my life right now!" Either that, or it completely fits your mood...you know? (Heck, sometimes it doesn't even fit at all, but somehow it just speaks to you.)

What's your lyric of the moment? (It can be as short or as long as you'd like, or you could even post multiple. You can say what song/poem it's from, or not....It's whatever.)

    Mine:

"For so long I thought I was asylum bound, but just seeing you makes me think twice."

Aw, I've been waiting like a thread like this forever!

"they call holidays an option for a reason
i hear your coming back to life just for the fourth
i've been catching all your ghosts for every season
i pray to god you won't come back here anymore

do you pray with him, too?

they should deliver all my blessings in small brown paper handbags near the porch
i wished i'd known that you were bleeding while i sat and watched you reading with the lord

    i read with him, too"

    - where have you been?, andy hull

Such a good song, I was so ready to post the whole thing. You've got to listen to it for the full effect.

I have also been waiting for a thread like this. Though in retrospect I could have just made it myself, I suppose...Oh well. Good thread idea, Agok.

    Living easy, living free
Season ticket on a one-way ride
    Asking nothing, leave me be
    Taking everything in my stride
Ain't nothing I would rather do

    Going down, party time
My friends are gonna be there to
I'm on the highway to hell

    -Highway to Hell, AC/DC.

"I've seen a child is caught in the sad trap of gravity.
He falls from the lowest branch of the apple tree
and lands in the grass and weeps for his dignity.
Next time he will not aim so high.
Yeah, next time, neither will I."

The lyrics in my signature...'You're sitting there thinking your thoughts; They are not about what is, but what is not. You are sitting there breathing in your breath; You are seldom breathing life, but mostly death.'
That is from a song called Symphony in C by a band called CAKE...

I like this thread idea also hehe

I was listening to this song, then I decided to look at Emily Dickinson poetry because I had read some of her poetry at school and liked it. I just realized today that these lyrics are actually an Emily Dickinson poem and so are some other of Josephine Foster's songs.

    "Trust in the Unexpected—
    By this—was William Kidd
    Persuaded of the Buried Gold—
    As One had testified—

    Through this—the old Philosopher—
    His Talismanic Stone
    Discernéd—still withholden
    To effort undivine—

    'Twas this—allured Columbus—
    When Genoa—withdrew
    Before an Apparition
    Baptized America—

    The Same—afflicted Thomas—
    When Deity assured
    'Twas better—the perceiving not—
    Provided it believed—
    "

    It's called...Trust in the Unexpected...I like it :)

It's 3!OH3 I believe. :] And to keep on track with the thread...

The Shins are just amazing with lyrics in my opinion of course, and this song describes my last break up to a tee. I'm just going to post the whole song because I'm a maniac, deal with it.

I was just bony hands as cold as a winter pole
you held a warm stone out new flowing blood to hold
oh what a contrast you were
to the brutes in the halls
my timid young fingers held a decent animal.

    Over the ramparts you tossed
the scent of your skin and some foreign flowers
    tied to a brick
    sweet as a song
the years have been short but the days were long.

Cool of a temperate breeze from dark skies to wet grass
we fell in a field it seems now a thousand summers passed
when our kite lines first crossed
    we tied them into knots
    and to finally fly apart
we had to cut them off.

Since then it's been a book you read in reverse
you understand less as the pages turn
    or a movie so crass
    and awkwardly cast
that even I could be the star.

I don't look back much as a rule
and all this way before murder was cruel
but your memory is here and I'd like it to stay
warm light on a winters day.

    Over the ramparts you tossed
the scent of your skin and some foreign flowers
    tied to a brick
    sweet as a song
the years have seemed short but the days go slowly by
two loose kites falling from the sky
drawn to the ground and an end to flight.

"...Time flies when you're falling down
I spread my rot all over this town
And every one of you looks the same
And every one of you feels the same."

    "I'm just not the same
As I was a year ago and each minute since then.
    My jumper tears
    As we take it off;
You say you'll sew me good as new and I know you will.

And I'm shaking, then I'm still.
    When your eyes meet mine
    I lose simple skills,
Like to tell you all I want is now."

    - "Set Down Your Glass," Snow Patrol

    Suuuuch a good song...

    I got a couple addictions
But I swear that I'm coming clean
I got a new way of thinking
Yeah, you're bringing out the best in me

    I got a bit of a history
But you're telling me that you don't care
    I've been a bit of a mystery
The only thing that I could find
    to wear tonight was you
    So come on, come on
    You want to

    Shut your eyes
    And feel the chemicals collide
    You and I tonight
You're the sugar in my high
    Shut your eyes
    I feel the chemicals collide
    Stars and satellites
    Spinnin' round and round
On the night you saved my life
I got a couple of problems
A thousand puzzles runnin' through my head
But I think that you could solve them
You're always just one step ahead

    -Boys like girls, chemicals collide.
