I want to be an 80s kid or teenager

i was born in 1989 who has been listening to all these 80s songs lateley
and i just wanna be born in the late 70s instead and be an 80s kid or why not be born 20 years earlier in 1969 so i could be the ultimate 80s teen?

I can deny that being an 80s teen seems fun.

I was born in 68' and yeah the music in the eighties was awesome. Looking back it was a pretty cool time to be a teen, but at the time it didn't really feel that way. Nothing like the damocles sword of nuclear war to put a damper on your spirits. I seriously expected the world to be a cinder before I hit 30. There's a tendency to romanticize the past, disdain the present and fear the future.

    But yeah, that music though.

As an 80s kid/teenager I always thought that it would be much more fun to be a 70s kid/teenager, mostly because of the 70s music I loved.

Also, I was bitter that AIDS had come along before I got to have any wild sexcapades.

How can any decade be objectively best ever? I have to agree with @Turlowe that also the ever present cold war threat of the world coming to end at any random moment, at just a push of a button, did have an effect on our ability to full-heartedly enjoy the era.

It was great being a kid in the 80s. I got to actually be a kid. The newer version of “It”, despite being a horror movie, was quite realistic in terms of the music, fashion, etc. at the time, and brought back a lot of memories.

I remember fondly riding around on my bike all day with a bunch of friends in a pack. Parents didn’t care as long as you were home by dark.

The toys were awesome. I eagerly awaited the Sears wishbook every year to circle what I wanted for Christmas.

Fashion was fun, and the music was the best.

F ya. Of course you do. I'd say 1980 to 1987 was the best time to be a teenager. 1983, you probably knew how to break dance 1988 to 1993 was a tad dangerous being a teenager LOL. You couldn't wear red or blue without pissing off somebody in California.

Talk to anybody who was a teenager , kid, or young adult in the 1980s and the first thing that comes to mind was the music lol.
