Are we only talking wether or not it's a good decade for music/culture/movie-film-media? Or in general? (Since you bring up economy. I'm confused).
Music: I'm happy so far, some genres are developing into some interesting stuff, how we listen to music and where has changed, it's more accessible for the consumer. Not sure if the artists, producers and companies are as satisfied with it as consumer might be. Personally, I think there have been tons of enjoyable music from end 2009/start2010 til now.
Movies: the larger production/distributing companies seem to be putting their money into films with large special effects budgets, sure this can great cool movies, but what's up with all the 2, 3 and 4s of things? So yeah! Movie number 1 did great. Now bring me something new. I really do wish they'd stop adapting every film they publish into 3D format in the cinema though, cause many of them just look rediculous in 3D.
TV: no complains, tons of interesting stuff has happened there. Netflix, and streaming of TV shows are changing how and when we watch TV. As a TV show nerd. I'm pretty happy. It will be interesting to see further development. I've enjoyed watching how the process of buying/sending TV shows between the different streaming and TV companies in my region.
Economy: stabile? That remains to be seen and really depends on where in the world you live. Not that I should complain, cause I live in a country that was hit to a lesser degree in 2008, but with China's economy being what it is currently.. Well, we are not optimistic. Tons of migration happening in Europe. Because people, especially youth and the age group 20-35 have been hit pretty hard. I don't think this will change until certain things have been stabilized further. Although, some of the countries that were hit hard in 2008+ If you ask Greece if it's a good decade so far, I'm guessing they'd say no, but that their are hopeful it might get a bit better, and soon.
Conflict: conflict is nothing new, but since the Arabian Spring in 2011, it's been constant turmoil somewhere in North Africa. Currently, the civil war and the war(s) involving a certain bastardized terror org. in Syria (and other places where said bastard org. Which doesn't deserve to be called by its chosen name, is active) has resulted in the largest humanitarian crisis since world war 2. Millions of people are migrating or fleeing. Millions are in refugee camps. So if you ask them if it's a good decade so far, I'm pretty sure many will say it is most def not... And now several countries in Europe are panicking, cause what are we gonna do with all these people we a) weren't prepared to accept? B) not sure if we want? (Not my personal opinion, but rather two key points gathered after seeing news and reports from many different countries, so far there is no unified plan on how to help or handle the crisis. Rather just different nations, voicing their opinions and/or concerns + reports of what is happening and where it is happening, what actions the different nations are prepared to do.)
But it's not all bad: According to a man named Hans Rosling (Swedish medical doctor ++), media is not the best source of info because they are bias (lol, not that any of us should be surprised by that argument), because they often neglect to give you the full picture. Nigeria and Indeonesia have both had successful and democratic elections recently. Which is progress. India has also been able to eradicate tetanus as a killer of mothers and children (1)after eradicating polio.(2)

Eh, sorry if this was more on the serious side.
