    I define the core 2000's culture as Fall 2003-Summer 2007, but overall the peak of it was 2004-2007. So it was around 2007 when it ended IMO.

    The last gasp of 2000's influences was probably 2011 or 2012.

    I could go as far back as 2002 to say it was beginning. Once "post 9/11" culture was in effect. Fully in place by 2004. 2003-2004 schoolyear was definitely core 00's, all 90's pretty much gone. Fading starting in 2007. Pretty much all over by the end of 2009. By 2011-2012 schoolyear 10's culture had fully taken over imo.

    I agree that 2007 was the last year of the core 00s. 2008-2011 is a transition period. By 2012, the 00s culture was pretty much gone.

    What do you think would be the last core '00s sounding song?

  7. #6

    Like anybody else said, the core '00s were from 2004-2007, IMO.

    Well since core can be a larger span of a decade, I say 2013 as it was the last year I saw anything (even the little pieces) regarding the core 2000s.

    '04 - mid '07 = core 00s

    late '07 - mid '08 = 60% core 00s, 40% late 00s

    late 08 - 09 = 80% late 00s, 20% early 10s

    2010 = 30% early 10s, 70% late 00s

    2011 = 50% early 10s, 50% late 00s

    2012 = 60% early 10s, 20% late 00s, 20% mid 10s

    2013 = 40% early 10s, 5% late 00s, 55% mid 10s

    Around 2008 or so I would say.

    I'd say the core 2000s were from 9/11/01-1/20/09
