I definitely think his quick thinking is Ni working at its best as well; he's excellent at analyzing his environment and using that to make plans and decisions.

Any way you type him, I found him to be a surprisingly deep, cerebral character; in contrast, he's quite flat in the comics, or at least not nearly as nuanced.

I also typed Peter Quill as an ESFP, Gamora as an INTJ, and Drax as an ESTJ.

Ooooo! That's a really interesting way of looking at Rocket's character. The crazy thing is...I can totally see it! I'm not entirely sure if I'm ready to type him as INFJ but it seems plausible. Definitely more so than ESTJ which he most certainly is not! If someone lists good solid reasons for typing him as such I'd like to see them. Otherwise...INFJ is a fascinating take on his character. Thank you for sharing!

I personally think Gamora is ISFP as I see a lot of Fi in her as well as Se.

Quill I thought maybe was ESTP but at the same time someone pointed out that he seems to have Fi. If he did he would be ESFP or even ENFP. Not sure how I feel about those but it's an interesting thought.

Drax: ISxJ. Leaning more toward F with him. :)

I saw this movie for the second time last night and I can't help trying to type the main characters:

Quill - ENFP because he seems to do more Ne than Se but it's pretty close, also his drive to unite the team and exercise diplomacy seem to fit the NF mold

Gamora - ISTJ I can't see anything else but this. She seems to take things literally making her more S than N and if she is a feeler she hides it pretty well

Drax - ESTJ He can't be an N because he doesn't understand metaphors and his Te is pretty prevalent

Rocket - INTJ. I also like the commentary here on him being an INFJ. That fits well too. The first time I saw the movie I thought ENTP but after a second viewing he seems more I than E. He can't be a P because he's constantly displaying either strong Te or Fe.

Groot - This one is hard but I think either ISFP or INFP are the best options. He's an I and and F for sure!

Yikes. That's some bad typing, man.
I mean, no offense, you have guts to go out on a limb there, but rocket showed literally no feeling and no introversion and no judging as far as I could tell.
EDIT: I take that last part back. He could be a judger because of his elaborate plans and aggressiveness.

I'm starting to like the idea of Peter being ESFP. In fact, I'm willing to bet that all the guardians are feelers. Even Rocket...though he'd be the least likely of them. But I still like the "INFJ" theory pointedperception pointed out. Honestly Rocket's a big mystery to me...I haven't truly decided what type I am comfortable with for him.

I think most of them are Sensing types as well...again aside from Rocket and Groot who could be either/or depending on how you look at them.

Gamora is almost certainly ISFP, Drax is likely an ISFJ (a very angry one!), and Groot...well...it's pretty obvious that he's a feeler of some kind. S/N is up for debate.

Rocket's clearly ISTP. A cereberal thinker, but certainly not Te, and his plans are rooted in reality (Se). He uses tertiary Ni to craft his schemes, but doesn't spent much time in an inner world like dominant Ni users do. His weakness is personable Fe, as he doesn't care that he took a guys prosthetic just for fun, but inferior Fe also shows when Groot's death made him cry.
