    I agree with INFX.

Perhaps the best thing to do is to let him know about the difficulties you have opening up, and how that's just part of who you are. I think he'll be able understand that you just need more time than he does to open, and hopefully he'll be patient enough to stick it out.

And you know what? After he knows about all that stuff, maybe having a little space is a blessing in disguise, and maybe not. I wish you luck though

    I am also at INFX.

Maybe look up Ni/Ne and Fi/Fe differences and see which is prevalent.

    Is he very intense?

reading this : https://personalitycafe.com/whats-my-...infj-infp.html I see some Ni in him....

    Reading this : http://www.infjorinfp.com/docs/TertiaryTalk.htm
On the other hand, he's not into perfect writing of INFJs and he's pretty into "where do I come from, where do I go" from INFPs. The first time we talked, he made his all genealogy, to the point it was boring (and quite funny from a sarcastic look like mine...)

And he considers himself as pretty illogical. He considers me as pretty rationnal.

On the other hand, he hates routine as much as the INFJs described there. He hates medication though he works in the medical field. He tries to avoid it as much as possible.
He's able to change job, already has and he's very much into challenging onself (not staying in a routine)

    He's a wierd mix

I think he might really be an INFP rather since his writing skills are not good enough for an INFJ it seems

My first thought when reading your description was INFJ. INFPs are supposed to be the typical writers, as in lots of famous writers are supposed to be INFPs. I have on INFJ friend and though she likes to write (including long sincere emails), I'm not impressed with her writing skills.

Highlighting the things in your first post that made me think of my INFJ friend:

We just feel on the same wave length for about everything. We can talk together for hours. He describes himself as shy, emotional, anxious. He has learn to deal with and to hide his emotions. But he's now in his late 30ies and it seems he overcome a lot of this. He tries to be strong and someone who never gives up. Though he describes himself as shy, he's pretty social and have a wide circle of friends. He could superficially come off as an extrovert. But he's also an avid novel reader, he writes long long long emails (an extravert like me has issues to write so long emails), he prefers writing over calling.
His emotionnal shy anxious side made his authoritarian dad think, this guy would never ever succeed in life. But little by little he did. He had to work on himself with psychologist to overcome his anxiety and etc... But now his personality blossoms (over the last years, his family and close friends said he changed a lot and took much more self confidence). This self-confidence probably comes from a very good professionnal sucess he managed through hard work.
I am not sure, he's a J though. When he writes, he writes long emails but right on the flow. He doesn't re-read each word. He writes it as he thinks it. So they are many spelling mistakes.
When you see him, he comes across as nice and easy-going. But I am not sure he's that easy-going. Sounds like he knows what he wants in life. He can stand up to defend someone who's been treated badly. He's pretty straight-forward. He can stand up and have a combative spirit. Not sure if it's learned or natural to him.
In a relationship, he's very into being sincere, honest, authentic. And he has proven it many times by telling about himself things that doesn't "sell" him to his date just out of honesty. That's something I find remarkable.
His place is not overly messy but not very orderly.

I wouldn't classify a type based on writing ability. Writing is a skill and therefore can be developed or not developed by any type depending on their association with it. While I do believe each of the two types mentioned may write in different styles, whether or not their material is "good" or "impressive" is meaningless.

Have him look at this website and compare/contrast his writing style.

this said, reading your document I see that when he writes to me, he doesn't do any draft. He just writes as he thinks and send it. But maybe this is just with me ? because he wants to write often (otherwise it would take him ages to write... and here we write each other several times a day)
Ok this is not a sign for being an INFJ or INFP.

I tend to think he might still be an INFJ because we are so much on the same wave length. It's like it were easy to understand each other. Not much work. I've never met someone I so much think alike.
