I don't feel guilty receiving gifts. But I feel obligated to get the person something in return. And that can be a pain in the ass, and expensive. So sometimes I'd rather not have received a gift in the first place.

    Same here..

My favourite gift to give and receive are things to do with effort or maybe time shared
like cooking where I am feeding more than one person including myself or teaching someone how to do something new..or cutting someone's hair o_o I guess there are more like services

I like receiving gifts but I never feel forced to give something back right away. Actually, I may never give something in return. I don't care what people think about me, and usually I see on their face that they are already happy for making me happy with their gift. If I would choose the best gift I ever received, it would be sharing the time and thoughts with me because most of the people tend to avoid me as much as they can.

I love to give gifts, it's actually one of the funniest things I know
But, recieving gifts I don't really like.. Don't know why..
I just don't know how to react, what to say and so on.. It's not a thing I expect, so I get baffled..

I LOVE giving gifts. Love thinking of what to get, love taking time to ponder it, love finding the perfect item. I just love the feeling of knowing that you really "get" someone and could find the perfect thing for them. I love giving someone a gift that I know they will love and use over something that will just sit in their closet collecting dust.
I really don't like getting gifts though. I don't know why. It makes me feel awkward and I never know how to thank them properly. I much prefer giving them than getting them.

I do that also. I think about everything I know about the person then seek the perfect gift I can get.

I like receiving gifts that are useable or simple (not expensive though) like one flower or key chains (got one the other day ) but I do feel obliged to return it not that I feel guilty but I want to share the feeling and thought.

I love giving good gifts as well. I do get a bit of anxiety though if I don't have ample time to think and come to a great answer about what the person really needs/will like/will use. I usually need at least a month to come up with an excellent gift. I feel that gifts should be meaningful, functional, original, and sentimental and it is sometimes hard to find something like that without proper planning and preparation. I find things like concert tickets, decadent baked goodies(depending on the recepient), and things for the home (if you really know their taste) make great gifts. I also love giving handmade things, but I am not that skilled of a craftsman yet so I think this will be a strategy I may use more later in life. I will regularly bend over backwards and go out of my way to attain the perfect gift for someone I care about.

On receiving gifts, I don't feel inherently guilty about accepting gifts. I do feel somewhat guilty if I do not like the gift. I will not be overtly rude if i receive something I do not like, but if the person giving the gift knows me very well they will be able to identify my lack of enthusiasm, which I in turn pick up on and then feel badly. If I really love a gift my reaction will be extremely natural and radiant (I visibly blush and become speechless) which makes it that much harder when I have to accept a subpar gift from someone who has given me a successful one in the past. I just fall flat, even if i try to fake it!
