List Of Tragic/Sad Movies, Books, And TV Shows.

I'm in the mood to watch something sad and tragic. I'm talking like very emotionally heavy stuff. Stuff that deals with pain, loss, trauma, heartbreak, lost love, and dark themes like death, suicide, addiction, infidelity, PTSD, hopelessness, depression, mental illness, ect.

No happy endings, the good guy doesn't win at the end, the lovers don't get a happily ever after, and the characters are damaged and doomed from the start. A few exceptions will be made, but overall, no real happy endings for the majority of the characters.

    Tentative List:

    Movies:

    Requiem For A Dream.
    Revolutionary Road.
    Atonement.
    Shame.
    A Serious Man.
    Blue Valentine.
    Leaving Las Vegas.
    Kids.
    Irreversible.
    Black Beauty.
    Monster's Ball.

    Books:

    The Bell Jar.
    On The Beach.
Long Day's Journey Into Night. (Play).
    The Great Gatsby.
    Just Kids.
    The Sparrow.
    Romeo and Juliet. (Play).
    The Road.
    Please Kill Me.
    The Sound And The Fury.

    TV Shows:

    The Killing.
    True Detective.
    Breaking Bad.
    Mad Men.
    The Night Of.
    The Jinx.
    Fargo.

If you're not going to contribute get the fuck off my thread. Thought you had me blocked actually. Most of what I listed is solid by the way, and INFPs have a wide range of tastes.

    Never Let Me Go!

It's a book and a movie. It doesn't matter whether you watch the film or read the book first because it's one of those rare instances where they are both masterpieces (in my opinion).

Another film is Drive. This has Carey Mulligan, too. It's an action movie but it left me feeling simultaneously depressed and hopeful at the end. It really stays with you.

    (500) Days Of Summer
    Donnie Darko
Pay It Forward (not the best movie but it has a sad ending)
The Boy In The Striped Pajamas (I think it's supposed to be a kid's movie but it made me really sad when I first saw it)
    Sunset Boulevard

If you really want to cry, watch Never Let Me Go first.

Edit to add: Green Room. I don't know if I would call this a horror film but it's violent and realistic. It's SO GOOD!

I agree with Romeo + Juliet, Bell Jar and The Great Gatsby.

i'd like to add Wurthering Heights (both the book, and the movie adaptations were done well), Catcher In The Rye and The Outsiders
