I get emotional attachments to clothes also. I love variety and newness, but I still have certain pieces that are from my teen years because I cannot bear to throw them out (and I still wear them sometimes).
I'm really fanatical about my laundry (washing it, not putting it away, haha) & I can mend well, so my clothes tend to stay in good shape for a long time. I've made myself clean my closet out every year though, to throw out & donate clothes, or else I'd be drowning in them....
As is mine!
I used to dress like a complete freak. Boots, tutus and I also had green hair. o_O
Then I started to feel good about myself, and now I dress in a pretty dark girly fashion. I mostly wear black, but I also have a lot of tartan clothes. Polka dots are a favourite of mine, as are ballet flats with bows.. and corsets. Real, steel boned corsets. <3 Basically, I either look like a rock chick hobo, or a gothy girly girl. When I'm feeling aggressive or unhappy, I still break out my platform combat boots and neon clothes though.
The girl in the picture is wearing my bathers and shoes. The whole feel of the picture really sums up how I usually dress, apart from the sunglasses. I even have a similar haircut.
Wow, now I feel like a clone.
ANYWAY
Wow, that sounds a lot like how I dress. Except I definitely wear very weird things on a regular basis...haha..
I try to stay in style but also go my own way a little bit. I am a fashion major and plan on working in this field..so I need to stay somewhat current on styles and colors.
Fashion? Not here. I'm into my feet not getting wet when it rains, hence and therefore I wear L.L. Bean comfort Mocs year round. I have a total of two pairs of shoes. One black pair of comfort Mocs and a spare pair if I step in poo and need to wash the other pair. Two days ago the heavens opened up to a sort of apocalyptic flood and most were talking about wet feet at work. NOT ME! ;-)
Right now I have on a paisley purple velour top and black pants. Everything even work clothes MUST BE SOFT. So I only wear velour, flannel, cotton, polar fleece, jersey. If there is one little tiny weeny sticker itchy hard spot in any of my shirts.... I'll rip the shirt off in the middle of a busy interstate highway, if I have to. I must wash all clothes once, this includes sheets (to sleep on, not wear), before I wear them, due to everything coming with starch on them.
Heels? Anything above 1/4 of an inch is a friggin' safety hazard. I do own slippers. I like barefoot in the summer and I LOVE wearing black, black, black. Also, no rings, no necklaces, no bracelets, no hats except for my L.L.Bean winter hat that has the flaps that come over my ears. I will wear gloves.
I'm going to hop on the band wagon and say I too wear a lot of black. But like snail said, recently I've tried to incorporate more colors into my wardrobe. For the most part it is working aside from the fact I subconsciously keep buying shirts all in different shades of purple. In a nutshell, as long as I feel comfortable in what I'm wearing it's a go. But comfort for me, means extenuating the positive and not standing out too much.
I love fashion. I am really into European style, as I think Europeans dress nicer than Americans. If I could afford it, I would dress in designer clothing, but since I can't, I tend to try to get the high fashion look by shopping at thrift stores and other stores and just use my eye to get a good style. My everyday look is a well fitting t shirt, skinny jeans, and vintage chelsea boots. I'm really into vintage looks.
I prefer to wear simple and comfortable, yet pretty and colorful clothes. I absolutely hate pastel or "earthy" colors, and if Im wearing a lot of dark colored clothes Ill make sure to add some colorful accessory, like yellow scarf or leopard gloves or something.
Don't like dresses much, though I have a few. I mostly wear jeans and shorts, and have a lot of shirts of all kinds.
Oh, and I also dont like too revealing clothes.
i wear mostly black and band shirts (well, what do you expect when most of music i listen to is either metal or punk?)
