Gripping dislike of all social media

I am actively job seeking at the minute and am very proactive and eager to keep improving in my job seeking technique, but the one barrier I haven't been able to get over is how abhorrent I find the thought of going on Linkedin.

As someone who dislikes most people I know from work/school/life, and as someone who actively cultivates my social media such that I never have to encounter aforementioned people online, and as someone that makes a ton of things on my online profiles private-

I would love a job, but I would also love for my strict privacy needs and strong desire to avoid social media stupidity to remain unviolated.

Know this sounds INSANE but I am grateful there is this corner of the internet I can place this in.

Doesn't sound insane in the least. Being on F**kbook, Instaspam, Twat-ter etc. is insane.

The way things are going, soon you won't be able to buy groceries without providing some inane social media information.

Not sure to what an extent it is an option, but I have been self-employed for a decade to avoid precisely this kind of idiocy.

I feel you. What I will say, is I do have a LinkedIn account, but I haven't looked at it in years. Every job I've had, and every interview I've been invited to has been a result of appying directly. While I'm sure it's useful and important in some industries, I can't thinking a single person who has benefited from their LinkedIn profile.

Conversely, you could set one up anyway under a false name and try to construct the least employable profile possible.

Something like: "Sir Doctor Budapest the 27th (long may he reign) has spent the past three centuries in the compulsory recruitment industry. Supervising a vessel of sixty seven souls, he managed accounts of some three hundred assets, of which only one hundred perished on conditions inspectors have described as "basically okay". In his spare time Sir Doctor Budapest the 27th (the star of the morning, the accursed flibbertigibbet) wages his unending war on the impoverished, the idle, the sickly, and the Welsh.

Hobbies: casual racism, public drunkenness, the flaying of the unbeliever, stamp collecting, and congenital madness.
    Education: can read (sometimes)"

And then a certain job recruiter from a certain company sends you a message, simply saying "You're hired" xD
"The flaying of the unbeliever." That's f***ing brilliant mate!

It certainly doesn't sound insane! The whole concept of putting your private life on something like Facebook or Instagram for the whole world to see, is mindblowingly stupid to me. Granted, I did have an Facebook and Instagram profile, but after so much time on it, I realized how absurd it was and how mind boggling vain some people are on such platforms, freely and willingly displaying their every aspect of their lives. Like the onset of a freak show or something

So, don't worry about regarding the idea of regarding a strict privacy policy, we INFP's need to have our privacy so as not too feel so intruded by others.

B.t.w I deleted both Facebook and Instagram and cursed my own naļve self for falling into the trap of "Connected with your friends"

"Wonderful news! And may I enquire as to renumeration?"
"Starting salary is £32,000 not including benefits"
"I only accept payment in whores, field mice, and tropical diseases."
"I'll see what I can do"
"Oh and I shall require a megaphone so that I may continue shouting abuse at the moon. And a tall ladder. The tallest ever conceived. So that when I tire of mere insults, I may strike at the pearlscent gobshite of a satellite! "
    "Of course"
    "And a duck."
    "Why a duck?"
"It will be very lonely atop the ladder. I shall call him Norman."

    ...

I feel I could go on with this for quite some time.

It is all a big steaming pile of shit just like everything else in this modern age, I honestly cant put up with it for much longer and there is no way out.

LinkedIn is creepy, and I don't have a need for everyone I have met in my life to know what I do and especially where I work in terms of location. I'm not on social media other than fora like these.
I tend to overshare and actually be myself, which on the regular social media you can't. That is all a bunch of self-censorship and fake presentations.

I'd also like to protect myself better from creeps and psychopaths. No need for them to figure out that easily where I work and live. Not to mention annoying recruiters that spam you whenever it says you look for a job. I lucked out that my name is common somehow (and apparently oldfashioned), searching for my full name online will result in a bunch of 50+ year olds that also have facebook and linkedin pages. So as long as I keep my head down, I won't show up that much either in the search engines. I was too late with realising I shouldn't use the same nickname everywhere though :p - it shows remnants...

"Alexa, order "blueberry pancake-flavored sausage" from Whole Foods."

"Blueberry pancake-flavored sausage ordered. Now uploading your receipt to your Instagram story."
