Well, that's the strategy I had with my INFP ex from this last year. I gave her a TON of space to process...But what ended up occurring was her in her vivid imagination writing me out of her life due to issues I felt were imaginary - and breaking up with me on a whim - without hints or communication (minus one single text) just because I let her "straighten it out". I'd like to improve communication with INFPs because you are honestly so sweet :)

Being an INFP I have a hard time expressing my thoughts verbally. They just all come out wrong unless I've had a lot of time to think what I'm going to say beforehand. Being put on the spot just jumbles all our thoughts up and we feel pressured then get confused. If you need an answer on the spot ask her some questions about what she means, that should help. Do you mean X,Y or ? She could say yes or no etc. Like, explain to her how her words come across and see what she says.
