    Nope. I'm the typical INFJ: Nice as pie until someone goes over the line; then ain't no jokin', they're toast. People have enough problems without me adding to them, even jokingly.

    That's a good point you make about planning. We do it to RELIEVE stress. I guess i was imagining myself having to throw a party or something. I shudder at the idea lol. I have read that INFPs are pretty routine oriented and its their thoughts and ideas that are open and exploratory. I relate to that for sure. I know I'm not an ENFP though hahahah sorry @Shrodingers drink !

    I've seen this video before but all it really shows is him telling a story to an audience and then copying how his friend is sitting which doesn't necessary indicate Fi imho. And Carry barely says anything so i can't tell whether or not she would also "check in" with the audience like he did if she was sharing her own thoughts. Because everyone does that to some extent, you know? And if Andrew sat first and crossed his legs, whose not to say that Carry may have ended up doing the same thing with Fe? So I don't know what to make of this video.
    How do you know your not an ENFP? Have you done an inferior function analysis? NFPs are super hard to tell apart. The combination of Fi and Ne tends to relate to anything (except Fe) which is why they have so much trouble self typing. From my (limited) experience its noticeable that INFPs are deeply considered with noticeable intellectual humility, while ENFP tend to have a ego based confidence about them, that tends to leave a massive blind spot.

    I know simply because I have friends who are ENFPs and have dated ENFPS. I don't have their ego.. in fact some ENFP individuals I know I'm not too keen on because of their blind selfishness while claiming the moral high ground. I know they can't help it, it's just irritating to me in certain people.
    But if you or anyone else thinks I'm one, well, I certainly can't convince you otherwise. I've been mistook for an ENTP and ENFP before. But I know for myself that my lead function is an introverted one. Introversion is how i regain my energy and mental stamina.

    Of course you can convince me otherwise, I just need to see objective data rather than assumptions. So recharging from alone time is generally a decent indicator but not 100%. There are other reasons that drive social introversion, just as there or other reasons that would make an introvert appear more confident and social. The trick is to figure out a coherent story. So you could be an INFP who has either life experiences or Enneagram/instinct driving a more confident state, or ENFP the reverse. That why its important to try and use objective tests, like comparing inferior function, rather than employing other peoples tendencies to determine your own relative position.

    I'm most interested in what you chameleon type of INFPs have to say.

    I need tips (besides the obvious ones)... and some of your personal experiences to help me figure this out!! I can't be the only one.
    ((fyi If you don't want to read the rest you can stop here))
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I've taken the test 4 times ever, and 3/4 of those times I've tested INFJ.. and so have believed myself to be INFJ for 7-8 years... I'm 25 now and in an emotionally healthy place unlike when I've taken the MBTI tests. but now i after looking back at cognitive functions and inter-type relations I'm more confused than ever. If i take the test now I think I'd have trouble being honest with myself. Thanks a lot davesuperpowers. I've read A LOT to try and come to my own conclusion (type 5 enneagram here!). Which, for the record, i realize ultimately it doesn't matter. I just want to know what to tell people when they ask about my MBTI type and then proceed to geek out over my ACTUAL function stack for kicks and giggles.
    The problem is that I identify with both INFP/INFJ traits. looked at stress points... I've watched videos... inferior Se/Si ..Fi vs Ni....Ti/Te and everything, I have INFP friends and I have INFJ friends. The INFP friendships are more solid than the INFJ ones usually. I've been drawn to both ENFJs and ENFPs. I get along well with (most) ESFJs.... I enjoy ENTPS but I've been hurt too much by both the ones I knew. I find ENTJs intriguing. INTJ's are usually pretty cool to me, too.
    I love the arts, psychology, history, music, WRITING, language, spirituality, biology, reading stuff, fashion... i mean i don't know if that helps but yeah lol. That's all i got for now. Thanks for coming ! Your input is desired.
    i think the fact that youre asking would make you an INFP.
    eta- same thing happenned to me. i tested INFP after consistently testing INFJ for a long time. I do feel like I had a personality change since I broke up with my ESFJ bf. maybe our personalities just merged a bit and thats why I tested J. i tend to care more about other people opinions of me now and am more concerned with others as well.
    You know, that had occurred to me!! If my Ni was stronger, I feel like I wouldn't be questioning this so much and going back and fourth. Also when i first came onto perc and a couple of people suggested I was ENFP or ENTP (though no one suggested INFP because I do come off as extroverted and I had posted a video) I didn't shrug it off, I got confused -could that be contributed to Ne?- so I tried to seek out more information!
    And what's interesting is that both my brother and mom are unhealthy ESFJs. My dad is ISTJ. It's quite possible that it instilled into me a stronger judging preference, though it may not be my natural one. Now that I'm older and have distanced myself from them a bit a different side of me is coming out. I used to be a lot more direct and crass.
    Another thing standing out to me here is that not one person yet has even entertained the thought that I'm actually an INFJ hahaha. So thank you for sharing your similar experience!! i read that a lot of actual INFPs who mistype as INFJ don't want to accept that they're INFPs because it's not as "special" as being INFJ. But that's such a silly thought to me because being an INFP means you're less alone in your personality than you initially thought.
    Would you mind if i asked you what you were like then vs now?
    I get what you're saying, but I've already done that. I'm trying to do more and more, but I do think I can also learn from other peoples experiences, too. That's why I've really been wanting to hear from INFPs who are confident they've mistyped as INFJ as I suspect could be the case for me. :)
    By the way, seeing as though you aren't INFP, what brought you to this thread out of sheer curiosity? Did you have a mistyping experience?
    I like infjs and Infps, and I like mentoring folks to help figure themselves out. MBTI alone is a terrible testing methodology, but once you combine it with cognitive funtion analysis it is pretty easy to type from the outside. You can see how someones mind ticks so to speak. There are a few pitfalls but there enough factors to be definitive if you dont jump to conclusions too quickly. Both INFJs and INFPs tend to look similar and have a tendency to suffer self doubt but for completely different reasons. INFJs have functions that are fighting for control, while INFPs tend to be overly ambitious with their ideals and then suffer from self doubt due to failure to meet those ideals (which doesn't always happen of course). From the outsiders perspective it is pretty easy to spot future oriented ni from in the moment ne. But for an infp who uses fi to relate to everything they cant see the difference. Instead is easier fir them to spot fi vs fe because Fi desires individuality and authenticity while Fe seeks a universal controlling ethic. The last thing you try and confirm is I vs E as environment can completely alter a persons orientation.
    I never understood ni to be more future oriented than ne. Please explain this further? (feel free to message me if you prefer)
    I believe i know the difference between Fi and Fe. I can spot lead Fe users easier than any other function, actually.
    Fi - focus on how stuff relates to self, then attempts to show it uniquely it via word, deed, intent...or art lol
    Fe- focus on how stuff relates to others uniquely in word, deed, intent... also a lot of expressiveness I've noticed
