Ni is not more future oriented than Ne. Their difference is that introverted intuition is subject-oriented and thus hones down on what matters to them from the patterns they see and devalue the rest. This is confused for being future-oriented simply because the INJ gives importance to a specific thing they see and so creates a predetermined path down the road. The Ne will appreciate more factors and consequences and keep being open but still anticipatory of the future. This is obvious when dealing with Sensors who truly are more in the present and have a difficult time valuing anticipating the future.

Also many many FJs care about authenticity, likely because it's a way for them to protect themselves from change and have control of their lives, as they can proclaim they have their opinions and others have their own and so they don't have to consider what others say and risk having to change. Authenticity can be a universal control ethic, basically.

And what's interesting is that both my brother and mom are unhealthy ESFJs. My dad is ISTJ. It's quite possible that it instilled into me a stronger judging preference, though it may not be my natural one. Now that I'm older and have distanced myself from them a bit a different side of me is coming out. I used to be a lot more direct and crass.

Another thing standing out to me here is that not one person yet has even entertained the thought that I'm actually an INFJ hahaha. So thank you for sharing your similar experience!! i read that a lot of actual INFPs who mistype as INFJ don't want to accept that they're INFPs because it's not as "special" as being INFJ. But that's such a silly thought to me because being an INFP means you're less alone in your personality than you initially thought.

Would you mind if i asked you what you were like then vs now?
the only differnece that i feel really is that i'm more sensitive and perhaps a little more intuitive than i was before. a little more hesitant about making decisions not quite as brash as before.

You, in my opinion, are not an INFJ.

Agreed. If we're going off of writing style, I get a very clear INFP vibe from the OP. NFJ is a bit more structured lifestyle.

I suppose my Ne interpretation is coming from the Ne Dom requirement for novelty, basically we don’t plan ahead, but chase all that is interesting. As a subservient function it can of course be put to use. However a Dom Ni will be future orientated, and thus if your not it can be useful for exclusion to some extent.

Similar with Fi Dom/Aux, they will be authentic and despise controlling (Fe) behaviour, but not all Fe types will be controlling and some will be authentic.

That's a good point you make about planning. We do it to RELIEVE stress. I guess i was imagining myself having to throw a party or something. I shudder at the idea lol. I have read that INFPs are pretty routine oriented and its their thoughts and ideas that are open and exploratory. I relate to that for sure. I know I'm not an ENFP though hahahah sorry @Shrodingers drink !
Personally, I like when others have structure and routine that I can sort of play inside as I please. I don't like having to make it myself; it takes a lot of energy for me. But I don't like being without it, either. That said, I'm probably a bit influenced by e6. Other INFPs may not like structure as much as me. In terms of planning, I've done some event planning alone and I'm all right at it - but I'm lucky to be close with my ESFJ mom, and we often plan things together. I'm a good initial researcher and coordinator while she's excellent with logistics and execution. IMO it's much more satisfying and less stressful with a good S partner!

I've seen this video before but all it really shows is him telling a story to an audience and then copying how his friend is sitting which doesn't necessary indicate Fi imho. And Carry barely says anything so i can't tell whether or not she would also "check in" with the audience like he did if she was sharing her own thoughts. Because everyone does that to some extent, you know? And if Andrew sat first and crossed his legs, whose not to say that Carry may have ended up doing the same thing with Fe? So I don't know what to make of this video.
To me, there is a significant difference in their "vibe", which is telling of NFJ vs NFP. Carey is more polished and appropriate, more outwardly open. Her whole person seems more collected and elegant, more like she is presenting herself as a finished product rather than a work in progress. Garfield's emotional energy is sort of more tightly clenched inward, he's overall a bit messier, rougher around the edges, like he's still being hewn, and he's got that puppy-dog-eye look where his eyes tell emotional volumes.
