    Songs You Identify With Most

Music is my crack. It's my wishing well, my pacifier, my language of love, my fence line, and my defibrillator. A few songs come to mind right now that I've always identified with on a deep level (for one reason or another). I could pick 300 but I'll stick to one for now. Maybe I'll set up a blog later...

    Bob Dylan, Idiot Wind

You'll never know / the hurt I suffered
nor the pain I rised above
And I'll never know / the same about you
your holiness or your kind of love
And it makes me feel soooo sorry

This lyric nearly killed me when I first felt it's significance. I love Bob.

God I love music. It just helps you feel so much better whether you're happy or sad! Here's my song:

Protest The Hero - Turn Soonest To The Sea

(would put link. not enough posts)
Don't get me wrong, this is a hard song to get into in my opinion, but this song just gives such a great feeling. I love how the song is technical. It definitely changes moods throughout the song. There are calm parts that make the song feel special. There are heavy parts that make it feel so epic. There are happy parts complement the heavy parts and it just feels so good. I hate writing, but I could make an essay alone on this song!

After some debating i choose this one by my favourite band!

"Did you lose faith? Yes, I lost faith in the powers that be
But In doing so I came across the will to disagree
And I gave up, yes I gave up and then I gave in
But I take responsiblity for every single sin"
it reminds me that i had bad time, but how much they changed me for the better
"the blemishes and scars that made us who we are"
I know to never ever hide from faults or problems!

I want to swim away but don't know how
Sometimes it feels just like I'm falling in the ocean
Let the waves up take me down
Let the hurricane set in motion, yeah
Let the rain of what I feel right now, come down
    Let the rain come down

I have felt at one time or another in my life the following songs through and through.

(this is the first song that ever made me just break down and cry)
(this is my favorite live, acoustic version of any song on the planet...gives me chills)

I know I'm not branching out much, but these are songs speak about things I've experienced myself that I can think of right off the top of my head. Type O Negative has a lot of songs that I feel deeply, but that's because I can feel his pain and/or love through his words and voice instead of them being situations or feelings that I, myself, have experienced. I don't necessarily identify with these currently or consistently, but they tend to come back. I deal with a lot of self-loathing, social anxiety, & difficulty expressing myself and Robert Smith and Billy Corgan are great at conveying those feelings with song.

I've always deeply related to Vertical Horizon's "Everything You Want:"

I'll probably be back with a few more later.

I tend to enjoy music with really good instrumental parts, like Death Cab for Cutie, Rogue Wave, Lydia, Regina Spektor, Arcade Fire, Ben Folds, The Strokes, Mumm-Ra... (I could go on forever)
Even though the lyrics don't matter as much to me, they always end up being really meaningful anyways.
If you're looking for an amazing song, listen to "Noise" by Regina Spektor.
Can't post a link, not enough posts.... =/

"There's a club, if you'd like to go
You could meet somebody who really loves you
So you go, and you stand on your own
And you leave on your own
And you go home, and you cry
    And you want to die

When you say it's gonna happen "now"
Well, when exactly do you mean ?
See I've already waited too long
And all my hope is gone

    You shut your mouth
    How can you say
I go about things the wrong way ?
I am Human and I need to be loved
    Just like everybody else does"

This song is basically my life, composed into a song.

    Kevin Max "Be"

    All in all we're fading
Like a soul lost in the wilderness
We're cold and we're cut off from it
Not knowing where it's gonna end

There's a star in Bethlehem, it's calling you
It's a memory of One who made it

    Be, be yourself
There's no one who does it quite like you
    Be, no one else
Cause if you don't then who is going to
You're a tribute to the best of us

    We follow everybody else
Not knowing what we're made for
    The mecca of the insecure
The sign and mark of the popular

There's a new face on the television
It's a new host with the same derision

    Be, be yourself
Don't let the losers tell you what to do
Be, no one else Cause if you don't then who is going to

    And the time is now
    No reason to look back
    Just like an infant born
You've got to catch your breath
    And I'm learning Father
    Yes, and I'm going farther

    Be, be yourself
There's no one who does it quite like you
    Be, no one else
Cause if you don't then who is going to?

Light the path you're supposed to see
Just like the salt that filters through the need
Like the star that's falling from the sky
Just like the apple of your Daddy's eye
