    INFP Poetry

I'm surprised you guys don't have a sticky poetry thread. Surely at least some of you are avid poets! Would any of you INFPs care to share some of your poetry with the world (And, incidentally, with me)?

It's embarrassingly bad. But yeah, I write a lot. Sometimes I think of them as songs, but I play no instrument.

Awww, that's okay. If you are embarrassed I won't push.

Would you INFPs like to read some of mine? I've written around 7, but alas I have only kept 3.

I've written a whole bunch of lyrics over the years. These particular ones are poems I wrote years ago:

    Right Below The Surface

It seems to be right below the surface
As if it is right under the skin
    I feel it with might
But not sure if it truly shows
Perhaps a part of me is
deliberately not letting it all show
Like I'm only really sharing it with myself
I have so much fire inside of me
as I walk, move and listen
Are they watching, can they see?
Or is it all in my head?
    - exhilaration -

    If The World

    If the world
    Was just for me
    Only for me to see
    Would the beauty be there
    Or lost
    With loneliness?
    I guess
    I'll ne'er know
    As people
    Share walks
    On this beautiful planet

It is not up to me
    To find life's meaning
    As far as I'm concerned
    All there is, is feeling
    Seemingly
    Life has no meaning
    I just walk this earth
    Smiling and waving
    At people thinking
    Instead of feeling

I don't really have any poems, but today in a chat conversation with a friend I typed this:

"the women get shunned from society, having to build a new life in the rice fields?"

and they said i should convert it into a haiku, because they thought it was poetic.

Apparently, I have the knack for being poetic in casual conversation.

Wow...this one really strikes me hard. It seems like you are taking refuge and drawing power from solitude.

    All righty. I'll share :)

Don't judge me too harshly, I wrote these recently in a sad place and I don't claim to be any great poet

    The Choice
In the light of the faded sun,
    The branches twist and weave,
A gentle breeze sways the trees,
    He can find no relief!

    The endless needs go unmet,
Rippling far as can be seen,
    One problem meets another,
    Solitude is a distant dream….

The gentle music sways and moves,
    Comfort in the harmonic flow,
What keeps a caring man going?
When the wind behind him fails‽

    A single drop stands shimmering,
    A pearlescent tear of grief,
As the tear falls in the waters,
The rippling stands still at last!

The wind twists his tangled mane,
    Carrying it all too far,
    With distant regret he turns,
And shoulders the load once more!

The final thing the lone man,
    Senses in his distant shell,
The rich scent of loamy earth,
In the wake of the closing door.

    O! Such indescribable Sensation!
O! The Pain of such a Choice!
It is at last the chosen time,
To face the days that come.

    Original Sin
Pattering stones slipping down. Cold wind gusting. The rain slices down in sheets. The stone support crumbles, pieces sliding into the wind. Wind whipping cloth away. Darkening sky conceals the view. Snap. Crackle. Chips rain down, buried by the puddling rain.
To see what can be, one must see past what is. Thunder roars, echoing afar. Reverberating cymbals of force clash in the sky. Dragons of devastation, warring for supremacy. Snap. Crackle. Chips rain down, buried by the puddling rain.
What cause to look forward? Now is the focus. To look ahead is to abandon what is. Betrayal of the self? Betrayal in memoriam? Time, only time, yet for what yonder heaven can the blind man strive? Snap. Crackle. Chips rain down, buried by the puddling rain.
The support wavers. Stone slides away. Away, into past, past to be forgotten except in dreams. What is, shall be no longer. Shaking, step forward. Air meets the shaking limb. Sink or fly? Which shall it be? Stones rain down, hidden in darkness.
Upon air, only air. The path lightens. Rain lessens. Turn, face what is, what was. A graceful mountain, sundered. Lying in twain, crumbling. Thunderous roar announces loss. Teardrops stinging. Stones rain down, hidden in darkness.
Stones crack, fall away. Mountain core remains. Countless paths, trod by many. What was shall ever be. Betrayal to move forward? Never. Mountain remains, diminished in name only. Turn, firm, walking upon air. Stones settle, strong forever.
Darkness lifts, revealing sky. Azure eternal. Colors swirl rainbow lights. Mountain meets colors. Grief stricken. Step upon rainbow path. Seek fortune, walking on air and light. One last look. Silence descends. Stone has settled, yet wind pushes. Be strong. Be strong. Be strong.

    The Crying Game
Her twisted snarky grin/Bared in rictus form/sparkling darkened opal/denial rent and shorn
What price, apathy? What losses for the lost? Whither shall you go bearing nothing save your own?
Pain flares anew/innocence lost/her trust ne'er given/ripples in the pond
Tears fall. The woman seal'd away. His sight blurs and mists. Wherefore will he go?
A Lonely Girl. A Grieving Soul. The Hidden Bottle. The Confused Guardian.
Lives twisted/Threads frayed/Each hurt one by one/Oblivious mires shrouding
All for lacking trust. Life is not mere survival. Remember. Remember. Remember.
functionaloneness, Little_Bird, morrad and 3 others thanked this post.

I'm Trying my best to get better at poetry (nothing more than a hobby but still...) I didn't like poems until about a year ago when I had a really passionate English teacher introduce us to sonnets. Anyway they're nowhere near as thought out as I like and I'm only starting to learn about forms.

Here's the one I've written last:

    Friendship

    Tins dangle off bare branches,
Strike to drown the bitter howls.

    clang...clang
    clang
    The train pulls out.

    clang clang clang
    I was not on it.
I should have been on it...
After the clang clang clang and
The click clack of the wheels,
Followed the patter of my friend's
    Remains on the battleground.

    Now they're after me:
    clang...clang
    clang
With the patter of the rain

    On my skull.
