Disclaimer: I do not agree with abortion. There that's out of the way.
Why would science consider it bad? It's a form of population control, resource management, genetic purification. There are myriad more scientific reasons to consider abortion a good thing than anything else. Morality doesn't exist within a scientific view of the world. Morals and ethics are just social extensions of self preservation techniques.
Thus I prefer the ethical view over the scientific view.
You do not agree with abortion, but I hope you do not try to remove the option from those who might not share your view.
Abortion serves an important purpose in many cases, to highlight a few there is a case of a rape, was it then a young girl or a grown woman they should not be required to carry a child to term they were not prepared for, that was conceived against their will and cope with the risks involved with pregnancy.
Also the emotional scars they carry forever would be reflected upon in the child. Being then a living reminder of the horror they experienced.
Another case is a pregnancy which puts the woman in health risk, and might cause the loss of the mother and / or the child. That is not acceptable.
And another god case for abortion is to make sure a child, in their youthful stupidity do not piss away their future when they make a mistake and have unprotected sex. This is like denying medicine if your child catches pneumonia for falling in ice and inhaling water by just being careless as children tend to be.
Abortion is not the sort of medical procedure one willingly undergoes for the heck of it. one does not go to have one just to have the "joy" of baby killing. It is a painful and horrible experience and often done because option might be even worse and affect more lives than just the
ONE concerned at the moment of abortion.
To not to agree with abortion is your right, but to take the choice away from others is none of your business. And that is essential fact better understood about freedom. you are free to disagree, they are free to undergo, and no moral or ethical judgment is to be passed on the participants involved.
Carrying a child to term is a dangerous and stressful experience, giving birth even in modern age still poses a risk of death and leaves permanent scars to the body. If someone chooses to get abortion I think that is their right and their choice. And I do not have any opinion on abortion personally as it does not concern me, I can not get pregnant so I am not the one who has to bare with the emotional and physical baggage that comes with it; and therefore it is not my place to say whether it is right or wrong.
Also even if the matter does not concern me
I can still agree that abortion should be an accessible and valid option for those who do want or need it.
Choice is not mine to make, but option for the choice is a duty of mine and everyones to ensure.
