Gazing at her shiny eyes while sweetly pronounced words are coming through her inviting lips, or just contemplating the details and textures of her angelic face as she's sleeping, nothing more to make me feel happily intrigued at myself for being intrigued and intoxicated by her.

    No.

I follow a specific set of ''beliefs,'' -- all flexible; all pragmatic - that I will drop anytime if I feel necessary - or rational to do so. Why do I believe in (X)-over-(Y), because it is simply the best, more useful thing to believe in [after comparing all other beliefs], but I do not really give a shit about 'em.

Rather than ''strong beliefs,'' - they are 'uncertain' beliefs determined through strong, reliable method(s). (e.g., knowledge / experimentation / evidence), all in which I have no supreme sentimental / personal attachment to and I suspect, that is what makes them ''strong,''.

If you could become less intelligent, would you do it? Have you ever wished for this?

i've wanted sometimes to be a little less, idk . . . observant, a little bit less like a steel trap. i've thought that i'd like to just not notice things, instead of noticing them and then having to do internal sorting about what to point out and what to ignore. and i don't even know if i've thought of that as a desire to be less like that, actually. it's more just like having times when i can't help but be conscious that i'm a sore thumb. i'm not typical.

but i don't automatically associate that excess consciousness with intelligence, so i guess no. and whether i'd actually want to amputate that kind of thing for the sake of blending in more, yeah probably not. i don't really think you can spot-reduce personality traits any more than you can spot-reduce anything else, so reducing even the things that make you uncomfortable by making you stick out seems like a risky prospect.

Guess I consider intelligence, perceptiveness, etc to all be under the same umbrella of mental ability/awareness. Used the terminology I did to leave room for interpretation.

Agree with the bolded, as everything is connected in its own way. Not sure what the 'reducing things that make you uncomfortable' and 'making you stick out' parts are referring to.

The question could be reworded as:

Has your capability to perceive ever eclipsed your capacity to endure/tolerate, and has this happened to the extent that you'd rather not be able to perceive as effectively/expansively?

Yes..for some reason this keeps coming up as an example..in college I envied Charlie Sheen. Just how he does whatever without giving a fuck. Not so much anymore lol, but I do sometimes think it would be easier to not just absorb all my surroundings like a sponge. It's a bit "ignorance is bliss" I guess, because basically my thinking goes "if I wasn't aware of XY&Z I wouldn't CARE about XY&Z, now it's something else to think about/fix or be haunted by indefinitely..".

Yeah. Just want my brain to turn off sometimes, lol.

Relate to the bolded so much. Thanks for sharing.

That is exactly how I felt towards ostentatious serenades and other dreadful confessions before. I'd laugh and look with disgust at things I didn't understand. It was out of complete ignorance.

You have yet to grow emotionally, or meet that special someone who will help you do that.
