phew. one bullet dodged, for this day

it was a compliment actually. you're very distinctible*.

*distinctible: non-existent word coined 20 years ago by small lily-kid, and still much in use in the liliverse.

onsite employee who reminds me of curious george: so, it would probably best if you get that bug in ay ess ay pee.
me *thinks*: uh oh. did i maybe say it out loud on friday?

also: it's no less annoying when pronounced as a straight acronym.

Me: How's my baby bird doing... Aww! Did you see that? She winked at me... Aww!
ISFJ: What the... Did you just said all those things? Wow! Now, that was unexpected.
Me: She is my cat. It's different.
    ISFJ: I don't know... I hate cats.

*people are strange when you're a stranger*

    INTP: Who was that guy?
    Me: Just a stranger.
INTP: You seem annoyed... What he did to you?
Me: He did his thing as a stranger... Strange stuff.
    INTP: Sounds strange.
    Me: Indeed.

    *irresistible force paradox*

ISTJ: You are doing it wrong!
Me: On purpose... The result will be better than usual.
ISTJ: And... You are doing it wrong.
Me: Because it's a little too complex for your government employee mentality.
ISTJ: Let me take a closer look... Are you doing it right? Nope... Still wrong!

*my purification process against Ti contamination*

ISTP: You are doing it right... But...
    Me: What?
ISTP: I said, you are doing it right... Bu...
    Me: I can't hear you!
ISTP: You are doing it right... B...
    Me: Louder!
ISTP: You are doing it right.
Me: Oh... Okay! So, what seems to be the problem?

*INFJs jedi mind trick aimed at my Fi*

INFJ: I want you to pray when you are feeling depressed.
Me: I'm nothing but an agnostic theist but I will do that. You are a decent person and I want to believe and practice your bullshit just because it's yours.
    INFJ: Thank you.
Me: By the way, your eyes are scaring me... But... I'm also enjoying it.
INFJ: Whatever! You have to pray. Because praying will help you to...
Me: What the hell are you doing to me right now?
    INFJ: Just being your friend.
Me: Yeah! Nice try... Seriously, what's going on?
INFJ: I don't know what you are talking about.
Me: Now, that made everything a little more mysterious.

    *the love doctor*

Me: Why are you biting your nails?
    ISFP:
    Me: What?
ISFP: My boyfriend is cheating me with my best friend and I'm so depressed. I know you don't like to give advices about romantic issues... But... Would you like to...
Me: She was not your friend and he never loved you.
    ISFP:
Me: By the way, everybody dies alone.
    ISFP:
Me: But... That's a good thing.
    ISFP:
Me: You know... The philosophical standpoint.
    ISFP:
Me: Are you feeling better now?
    ISFP:
    Me: No?
    ISFP:
Me: That's also a good thing... You supposed to feel terrible. After all, it's just your healthy reaction to that kind of situation. So, my advice was ineffective. Yet another good thing. Because, I would feel guilty if I did something like helping you to postpone your ironically healthy nervous breakdown... Please, just ignore me and continue.

Troubled ENTP colleague: (vents for the umpteenth time)

Me: I don't know how to help you. I don't know what to say. I may not be the best person you're seeking for.

    ENTP: (continues venting)

Me: Are you here to seek help/advice/support/to vent/??

    ENTP: (continues venting)

Me: (silent; pondering if this is how talking to a wall would feel like)

ENTP: It just dawned on me that there's no objective to this conversation. Heh.

Me: ..... Which is why I'm not sure how to help or what to say.

    ----------------------

Me: (relating the above conversation briefly) I didn't want to speak with her over the phone, so we texted. She was venting and I told her I didn't know how to help her. She continued venting and I said, "I still don't know how to help you."

ISTP colleague & her kid: (burst out laughing)

Me: (puzzled by their reaction; realise that, though that was a logical response from me, it may not have been a socially appropriate one)

ISTP: (relates her own experiences with said ENTP colleague) Do you think that's what really happened?

Me: It's difficult to say because we weren't there to witness what happened and we're only hearing from her perspective. She may be exaggerating or felt like it was worse because of her emotions at that time. And we don't know the background of their relationship.

    [The next day]

ISTP: My hubby said that we don't know what happened so we can't assume anything. Because we only listened to her side of the story; it can't be verified.

    Me: ..... Yup.

    christmas cheer, me style. SIGH.

brand-new guy on the other side of the cube, not directly related to anyone yet: well, merry xmas, you lot. i'm off the funeral of that kid who was killed by < standard disaffected-youth social atrocity >. have a nice holiday with your loved ones and see all of you in the new year.

    *leaves*
    *silence*

cavernous serbian dev lead: gee, you guys. i don't know . . . it's crazy.
someone: just can't understand how anyone could
someone: just cant get my head around
someone: etc etc dark days indeed
    product guy: ayup.
    someone: *Wisdom*
    someone: serious Deepness ...
someone: more Deepness ... mob mindset
    everyone: weakness . . . peer pressure . . . cowardice
    me:
serbian dev lead: *serbia* *stories* *resistance* *reprisals* *violence*
indian dev: *india* *caste system* *sexism* *parents* *beatings*
    serbian dev: geez, such guys.
    me: it isn't just there.
    someone: fabric of society . . .
    someone else: erosion . . . breakdown . . . anarchy.
    canadians: fear . . . insecurity . . . uncertainty
people: the good ol' days . . .
    me:
ux girl: yeah, but there aren't any good ol' days. those were an anomaly.
    everyone:
ux girl: <string of evidence>. we had a social safety net here but people forget, we put that in place. and it wasn't for some old collection of deadbeats, it was for all of us. and now we're allowing it to be taken apart. if it doesn't exist anymore that's because we let ourselves be told . . .
    everyone: *silence*
me, kind of suddenly i admit: she's right. and all this talk about cowardice and lack of moral fibre and weakness in other people's kids and how you people just-don't-understand how that kid could have got killed - it just doesn't make sense. it's all the same thing as what <dev lead> just said, what <indian dev> was saying; we have all that here, it's just in a different form. it's not difficult to understand this. you can see it right here, if you look. it's right there in the things we all decide that we'll say or not say around here every day, and when and where and to whom- and why not. it's not hard. that's all that you need to think about.
    everyone: O_O
    me: ...
me: i just don't understand why anyone finds any of it so hard to understand.
    everyone: O_O
me: okay, it's okay now. that's it; i'm done.
    everyone: ... haha?
dev lead: well. now that lily has summed it all up there isn't much more to say.
product guy: gee, lily. thanks for ruining a great conversation!
    dev 3: thread killer!
