ESFP new to PerC-We don't just live to have fun...we ARE THE FUN!!
I am a proud ESFP new to PerC!!
I have used MBTI in all areas of my life for 10 years and I just keep wanting to know more and help people learn how useful it can be as a growth tool.
I found personality typology when I was 23...It started over a back rub! Seriously I asked for a on the spot back rub request privilege from my then boyfriend (an ISTJ)...the problem I had was trying to get him to understand that what made the back-rub so special is that since he never wanted to do it i was able to ask for the back-rub whenever I needed it. He insisted that as long as he did followed through it shouldn't matter when he did it. I googled something along the lines of "why can't my boyfriend understand what i'm saying?"...the results led me to personalitypage.com and BOOM my world was forever changed!!
I was able to figure out my type then an ESFJ and through slick conversational skills over 3 days I was able to get the answers from my BF to get his type without him knowing...and AGAIN BOOM life changer. I know had the key to figuring his ass out! More importantly I was able to figure out that I did not want to be with his type for the rest of my life!
I continued to use typology at work and with parenting and friendships...I even journaled in 2008 that I wanted to create a career around the uses...fast forward 10 years and I was now falling in love with a Visionary ENFP! He was my catalyst in recent months to pursue this as my life's passion and to make it my career!
I helped him get to know his type as we moved forward and worked to build a strong foundation for our lives together. Me teaching him about typology was his life changing moment...he was able to validate all the things he couldn't understand about his type and then actively work to be the best person and partner possible.
This personality quest we have been on has not only changed us both and helped us create a unbreakable bond but has also helped validate my dreams of having a career spreading knowledge of personality! I am getting MBTI certified in April and have taken this time to engrous myself into the online communities that involve personality type!
My fiance is my biggest supporter and he sees this knowledge and passion I have as my "Super Power"...He says he hit the jackpot meeting me and that I saved his life. LOL Now as a big picture ENFP he is very dramatic but I have never seen anyone take the knowledge of their type and that of their significant other and work day in and day out to put the info to good use. He even tries to incorporate what I need from him into the conversation (details and sensor data in a linear fashion instead of the grand ideas he has that randomly skip around and go off into tangents). I could go on and on about the lengths that he has been able to use this to change his life and ours as a couple for the better.
His validation of the AWESOMENESS personality awareness can lead to has given me not only a relationship that is beyond what I ever was able to imagine possible, but also the support to follow my passion and make it my career!
Even Though I am constantly proved right about how people I meet want to know about their type I still worry about how to find the best way to make it my job. I'm sure I need to know more than just MBTI but is their a way to find a guided education through major aspects of personality psychology? Are there other certifications I need to consider first? How can I make this my job and also pay my bills with it?
What do I need to know before I get MBTI certified?
I haven't been working in order to "immerse myself into the personality world", but I need to work before I get certified! I have worked in labs my entire professional career which is dominated by introverted thinking and judging environments and people which is basically opposite of everything that I am. I want to find a job that is people oriented and might even utilize my knowledge of personality and my ability to get along and bring out the best in all types of people! I'm having trouble finding jobs like that and getting people to take me seriously when they see my career background and education.
I would love any tips for jobs, networking, education, training and figuring out how to become a great online presence without being able to directly interact with people (where i usually shine)
If nothing else I'd love some knowledgeable contacts to bounce ideas around with (yes i'm basically begging for new friends lol)!!
I know I typed a novel...but this post is definitely shorter than most of my usual conversations so please bear with me!:joyous:
