How well do you feel you manage intuition or abstract concepts?

For me, I'm terrible at it even though I throw myself into the ring every day.

I often miss metaphors in songs, though I know they are metaphors from simply memorizing that certain language use sets off a metaphor. I can get the gist of one, but the bigger picture of how the metaphor by itself fits into the song is lost on me unless I can gain purchase by logically thinking through the language and using my experience to piece the message together.

I'm crazy paranoid, too, due to inf Ne. I often mess up intent or the larger point of a conversation because I can't step back and see the forest. Thus my functions higher up in the stack get wonk.

I don't think people could be as bad as me, but what are your experiences?

This is open to anyone whose intuition is lower in the stack (tertiary or lower), Ne or Ni.

I tend to take things at face value, so metaphors are often lost on me unless they're the cliche, blatantly obvious/overused kind. I also tend to avoid abstract discussions unless I have the time, energy, and required interest in the subject. I really can't stand theory for theory's sake. If a theory doesn't have some sort of practical application or other real-world purpose that can come from it, I find it stupid and a useless waste of time. Other people can enjoy that sort of thing if they want, but hell, not me. I liked my ethics philosophy class in college because that sort of thing has real-world effects but armchair philosophy is so goddamn boring to me.
