    The ISFJ Introduction Thread

Another PerC member suggested that we should have an Introduction Thread in the ISFJ forum. I thought it was a great idea. It seems like there are a number of ISFJs who look at our forum and just lurk because they don't feel comfortable posting. Being a shy, sensitive ISFJ type myself, I can understand what that feels like. But my favorite thing about the ISFJ forum is that it's such a warm, welcoming place...I feel like I can post anything and feel "safe"

So I figure this can be a formal place where some of the more frequent ISFJ posters can share some things about themselves, and maybe it will help give some new ISFJs a starting point too.

So here are a few general questions for ISFJs to answer. Don't feel like you have to answer all of them if you don't want to, and definitely feel free to share or add on anything else you want. I just thought maybe this could be a starting point.

    1. What's your age/age range?

    2. Where are you located? (City, State, Country, Region)

    3. What's your current occupation/job/career?

    4. What's your current social situation (married/relationship/single, or can name family/friends/pets too).

    5. What's something you're interested in or like to do?

    6. What's something that you really like about yourself, especially as an ISFJ?

    7. What's something that you find tough about being an ISFJ?

    8. What's something quirky/interesting/unique about you?

I'll start! Here are my answers:

    1. I'm a 32 year old male ISFJ.

    2. I live in North Carolina in the southeastern United States.

    3. I teach high school math.

    4. I'm single and gay with no pets, and I live alone. I have some very close friends and family members that I love deeply, though.

    5. I like to go hiking, play video games, watch movies, watch lots of sports, play pool, gamble, and travel.

    6. More than anything, I'm a super loyal person to those that I care about. I feel like I'll stick with them to the end.

    7. I over-worry about things too much, especially when I have no good reason to.

    8. I still have my childhood teddy bear (he's in my avatar). I've loved him since I was a kid, I still like to cuddle him, and I sleep with him every night.

See, not too hard, right? And if I can admit that I'm a 32 year old man who still sleeps with his teddy bear, I know you ISFJs can feel comfortable sharing anything about yourselves!

    1. What's your age/age range?

    I'm 21 years old.

What do you mean by Age range though? Lmao.

Is it just for people who are uncomfortable with giving a specific age..? Or.

    2. Where are you located? (City, State, Country, Region)

Central US. Up torwards Canada' specifically.

    3. What's your current occupation/job/career?

    (M)ilitary (V)ehicle (R)epair & (R)estoration, plus Factory work on the side.

The only work I really do on vehicles though is usually just Cosmetic and with the Axis' Nothing to important. Don't want to give anyone the idea that I'm a mechanic of some sort lmao.

    4. What's your current social situation

Right now? Content with only having a pet :).

    5. What's something you're interested in or like to do?

Volunteer work's pretty big to me.

Currently I just help with Mass at Church on occasion and Help at the Local Food-Shelf. That and I used to help with fundraisers during High-school for 4H

    6. What's something that you really like about yourself, especially as an ISFJ?

Haha' I'm really bad with giving compliments of any sort but..

I guess if I had to really like something it'd be how much I can give emotionally to those around me. It's never really been a chore to help others feel better; more of a pleasure actually.

    7. What's something that you find tough about being an ISFJ?

Caring to the point of anger. I'd rather be a bit more passive, personally. I always disliked being mean to others.

    8. What's something quirky/interesting/unique about you?

I've been told my Eyes smile(?)

I've never really paid attention to myself! I'll def. have to go ask a friend to see if they noticed something.
Otherwise I just see myself as another person living in this big ol' world haha.

Yeah, just in case someone would rather say "I'm in my late 20s" instead of exactly saying 27 or 28 or 29. Drunk Parrot is the one who suggested the thread, and he had age/age range listed in the one he created, so I just stuck with that.

Nothing wrong with that. I've had my childhood teddy bear Buster (since I was 9 to be exact). I recently slept without him for the first time a few months ago and almost had a panic attack. I couldn't sleep because I thought that I lost him :(

    Howdy.

    1. What's your age/age range?
Nearly thirty. I am at the border of not being millennial/being a millennial. Generation Y.

    2. Where are you located? (City, State, Country, Region)
In a city in between Milwaukee and Chicago on Lake Michigan, in Wisconsin, United States, Midwest

    3. What's your current occupation/job/career?
I work as sort of a person who works during the evenings at a church with cleaning, event set-ups, light maintenance on the facility. I've been working here for awhile now. I also volunteer there as an A/V person for the lights on the stage, and the audio board.
    4. What's your current social situation (married/relationship/single, or can name family/friends/pets too).
Single. I've recently became an uncle. Honestly, I am bit scared to be around my niece at times. The delicacy of being such a young and impressionable person. Lots of pressure! But we can have some fun together and it's refreshing to interact with such a youngin. I live close to my immediate family. I have an older sister that I look up to quite a bit. Though, I live alone presently without any pets. People keep telling me to get a pet, but I refuse. I guess I like (some) people more than pets, and I like to be able to get away as well a lot. My closest friend has recently also returned from being a vagabond in New Zealand and Australia. Not sure of his type. I always thought INFP...it's possible he's INTJ...or ISFP. Haha...no idea really. It seems like a Te vs. Fe and Ti vs. Fi conflict at times, but we've known each other for ages. I guess it's up to him to decide ultimately.

    5. What's something you're interested in or like to do?
Nothing too note-worthy unfortunately. I use to set up events that are more friendly at times and just kind of silly fun that attempts to get everyone involved.

I guess I am kind of getting more interested in A/V kind of things. I am lucky to have been able to volunteer a bit in that area. I have a nice stereo now in my living room that it's fun to play video-games, watch movies on or listen to records.

I am trying to do things slower and really appreciate things in general. For example, reading books really slow and not rushing through. Just taking in a little at a time. Trying to walk on the path of appreciating the Fellowship of the Ring now.

    6. What's something that you really like about yourself, especially as an ISFJ?
I have a weird interests in details about things and people.
Maybe I am easy to be around at times but caring as well. Perhaps too caring.

    7. What's something that you find tough about being an ISFJ?
Sometimes, it's really difficult to be spontaneous.
I feel like I am a slow learner, but once it's in there...it's nice to have me around (usually).
Personally, I am not too physically interested in things external all the time. This may not be connected to being an ISFJ. It may connect a little bit. Hard to say.

    8. What's something quirky/interesting/unique about you?
Probably nothing too outlandish. Sometimes I just say the weirdest random thing to others that makes sense to me or is humorous to me...but it completely baffles the witness to what I say.

I have a close friend who lives far away who's going to have a baby in about a week. Even though I'm only a friend, I feel like I'm going to be kind of an uncle too, especially because this will be the first time in my life that someone close to me is having a baby.

It won't be the same situation as yours since I won't see them very often, but it is an interesting thing to me. I think it will be neat to see how the next few years go as I get to know a baby and a young kid as he grows up, since I've never experienced that before.

I'm like that too with my close friends. I say weird things and they think it's funny and out of character to me.

The very end of this video mentions something kind of like that for ISFJs.
