Shoes; do you judge a person by their shoes?

    A question ... Do you:
    a. notice others' shoes (state, repair, style, appropriateness)?
    b. judge them by their shoes?

Just wondering. I was packing for work trip, and noticed my shoes needed a clean; made me wonder if others notice such things, and if so, what you would conclude?

I tend to look down when I am walking, so unlike other people, it may be the first thing I see. I don't really feel the need for high heels and I try to avoid them because they are uncomfortable- especially with my flat feet. If the shoes stand out a lot I may take notice, but other than that I don't really think it matters.

If I judged people by their shoes, I'd really have to despise myself for my very small selection of shoes... :) It's sneakers, usually, for me. I only wear nice pumps with dress-up clothing. Sometimes sandals with shorts. I dislike it when people wear flip-flops in public, unless it's the beach/pool. Especially men, when they have hairy toes.

I don't think too much about shoes. I like nice shoes for myself and feel proud when I have a new pair. Most people wear pretty decent shoes. I notice if their shoes look weird or too colorful but I don't really care. I think it is silly to wear pajamas and slippers in Wal Mart. I'm sure I look amused when I see that. Honestly, most strangers around me are considered anonymous and what they wear is considered by me to be none of by business so it doesn't matter that much to me but I dislike bad smells, inappropriate bare feet and yeah like DaisyChain mentioned hairy toes are not very attractive and that is about it.

Edited to add that while I understand guys are hairy it is just that I don't care to see anyone else's except my husband's hairy toes. I try not to look down very much.

If the style catches my interests I will look a lil longer. I only care about what's on my own feet.

The last thing I notice on people are their shoes. So the answer is, No.

I only notice someone's shoes if it's out of place. Say, a woman wearing hiking boots while in a fancy dress or slippers or barefoot.

The only thing I hated is that one time this guy only wore sandals, and he had a pretty bad toenail infection, and then a couple of days later his whole toenail turned black. I was pretty disgusted and he wore socks after that. I don't like it when people wear flip-flops year round. In the winter, I just imagine them waking up in the morning, seeing there's snow on the ground and thinking to themselves, "Yes, flip-flops are perfect for this weather."

I'd like to add to the list of unattractive footwear. I can't stand seeing people wearing socks with sandals. I often see men wearing socks with sandals and it's just wrong!

I recall seeing dingy athletic socks and old sandals. I also see crocs with socks. Yes,they look comfy but they also look awful. I was amused much like I am with the 20ish pajama crew. lol!

I wear crocs to garden but I always wear my favorite shade of taupe or coffee. :)

    to answer the questions:
I tend to stare at the ground, so yes, I notice people's shoes. And yes, I judge everyone, but not solely based on their soles. haha.
