The N0 VTs can be recycled back into the game as replacements.

I don't think anybody signs up to play a game so that they can be taken out so then they can maybe be a sub later.

There is absolutely no benefit to a mechanic that comes at the expense of the players.

People who are deaded on N0 could be a secret QT team. Invincible SKs because they are already dead.

well, it would probably be a bastard game because there would be kills coming from an unknown source.

I picked the second option only because you didn't include an "D0 or N0 starts are fine, but D0 starts with kills suck".

I do not have a problem with having N0 actions though. Random town N0 peeks for cops are fine/good. I can also see things where like neighborizors make QTs with other players being something that would be fine for N0. But anything that's killing seems kind of crappy.
Oh she says what I think much better than I can (and I'm not very surprised of that fact tbh )

    N0 night kills.

Questions: Do they serve a purpose? Does the implementation of night zero nights create a fun experience for your players? No

If you can have a purpose beyond "they just die and don't get to play", in theory, Night Zero Kills might be worth exploring.

Stressing Point: There must be an element of fun involved. Not just fun for the mod but player fun, there can be a big difference there.

Example: Funco day 1 everyone is VT, and I get mislynched. But I became a witch, got to pick my mafia team and still got to contribute a ton to the game by talking strategy and helping out with fake quirks. We didn't win; curse you hawkataine *shakes fists violently*.

But see all this, I died early in the game. I wasn't around to defend myself from a lynch. But my death meant something in the grander scheme of things, and I had fun.

If a night zero kill can lead to a fun experience for the player, you might be able to have them in the game. But there are still a lot of people who just want to play the game.

    So tl;dr

Fun + Being N0 killed = might work, but the fun for the player is absolutely necessary if you want players to not backlash you for having N0 kills in the game

    Addendum

    Fun + Wincon

Your players signed up to play a game. If they don't get to play some form of a game, they are pissed.

Example: Day 1 Canceled, when i modded that game not everyone had a clear wincon, I had players flake because they didn't know what to do. Some players can live with little to no directions; other players need something to fuel where they should go.

That game is an example mod fun not equaling player fun.

    tl;dr

    Being N0 Killed + Fun + Having a Wincon = Might Work

I think players would want an experience that still relates to or ties to the other players in the game, but it is potentially flexible.
