October 2015 Member Spotlight "Grandmaster Yoda" Interview

Hi there Personality Cafe! With all the spooks and treats of Halloween behind us, we can now say hello to the member who has been nominated for our Member Spotlight! This member has a strong presence on the forum, and is coming up on their 2 year join anniversary. Let's spend a little time getting to know:

    @Grandmaster Yoda

    "Confusion is the greatest camouflage."

    What's your real name?

    Matthew

    How old are you?

    Seventeen years and 7 months.

What country are you situated in?

I am situated in the land of freedom, otherwise known as the United States.

Are you single, dating, or married?

I am single and too mentally unhealthy to exist otherwise.

    Do you have any kids?

I have allied myself with many kids, but I do not bring them home to feed or bathe them.

How would you describe yourself in one word?

    Disordered

What is your favorite place to travel to?

I do enjoy visiting the humble eatery known as Taco Bell. Rarely does a location provide me with equal satisfaction.

    What is your favorite color?

    Red

    What is your favorite weather?

Those early days of rain during Autumn which greatly increase the temperature to fairer levels but keep the sun away and all of its corrupting influence.

What are your favorite books, movies, tv shows, and video games?

My favorite book was entitled "The Bird", I never quite owned it. The story seemed to be some children's parody of Noah's Ark. A hermit lived alone on an island but there was a single dove with him. The small white bird would defecate on his bald head whenever possible. At the end of the story, Noah's Ark arrives at the island and the hermit is gravely greeted by every animal species on the planet.
My favorite book not designed to entertain first graders is Karl Popper's The Open Society and its Enemies. A splendid piece which harshly criticizes previous philosophers for holding ideas of historicism, an unscientific form of historical understanding. The author boldly concludes his piece by stating that history as a whole of all events has never been recorded and that it is without any meaning to derive something concrete from the complications of meager evidence collected from the past. I go off of memory.
My favorite video games encompass the Halo series, the Crysis series and certainly the Star Wars Dark Forces Series. All of which had quite a bit of comedy, besides the more serious pieces from Crysis which are nevertheless breathtaking in themselves.

What are your favorite foods and beverages?

I fancy plain foods, most notably my favorite food would have to be plain New York pizza. My favorite beverage would have to be sparkling white grape juice.

    What is your favorite animal?

My favorite animal would have to be the Tyrannosaurs Rex.

What kind of music do you enjoy?

I listen to various artists, but I will say that I never like too much from a single artist.

Do you play or follow any sports?

I once followed Baseball, up until the point that José Reyes left the Mets and they were no longer a valid team.

What are your favorite websites to visit?

    www.personalitycafe.com
    en. wikipedia.org

    What is your greatest weakness?

Most likely my lack of empathy and sporadic breaches of social etiquette. But the two work even more poorly together. I think it is my greatest failing that I cannot have a decent conversation with someone.

    What is your greatest strength?

My power is in making things absurd that would otherwise be considered normal. What else? Not logic, or so they call it. I do not study formal logic nor do I have any desire to.

    What motivates you?

Certain feelings of joy that I can experience during particularly good days. I never felt motivated by words, other than words that would provoke feelings of joy. The days when you can definitely say "I want to be alive". These are rare days, many people do not feel compelled to say so on an average day, even if they will claim that they do not want to die or if they can recite parables from a self-help book. These days are different.

    What is your philosophy?

I would like to move onto the level of Karl Popper's critical rationalism, but I find it utterly unintuitive to not take up a random position, then change it mid-sequence to say that I agreed the entire time. I think I'm more of a weak verificationist if those still exist. We can scarcely verify anything, but probability will speak its way for us. Also a Kantian and Humean "skeptic". I don't believe in cause and effect, the self or the external world.

    What are you passionate about?

    Nothing.

What kinds of jobs have you had?

I once aided a plumber in his quest to fix a bathtub. He was well paid, and if I had continued to help him I would have received more than twenty American Dollars.

    What are your pet peeves?

It really does annoy me when people say "be yourself". Who is "yourself"? Be anything you want to be and more. Do not restrict yourself to some confined notion of only being one way. Be what people want you to be people, but then also be what people don't want you to be. Why not? There's no problem with that.

    What are your fears?

I used to have selective mutism, oh I still do I just select people who I don't see anymore so it doesn't matter. Social anxiety was a problem, it's less of a problem but it stills exists in some ways. I hate calling people who I don't know, I never do video chats.

Who do you look up to?

Great men, great men indeed. For example, Donald Trump. He is exactly the kind of person I would want to be. A billionaire and a populist.

    Do you have any pets?

I have four dogs, all of which are in some way rejected. Clearance sales are where they came from. What that means specifically is obvious to anyone who enters my house.

What do you do for fun and relaxation?

I have a tendency to come here, I take out issues with abstract entities by viciously accusing various forum members of evil acts. It can be very pleasant.

How did you get involved with personality typing?

At a late stage in my life, I wanted to figure why I was the way that I was. I found MBTI, an overly positive representation of personality that fed my ego to the point of obesity, it worked.

What is your Myers Briggs personality type?

INTP or it could be ISTJ/ISFJ. No one has really explained which one was correct.

    What is your Enneagram type?

    5w6.

So what's it like being an INTP and a Enneagram type 5w6?

It's much like being an outcast without realizing it because one has failed to mentally structure society in a such a cartoonish way to believe that outcast and bullies existed. It's also quite nice being alone.

Do you think the different personality theories give an accurate description of you?

I think there are too many biases to really admit that.

Which personality theory do you prefer, and why?

I like MBTI, it's mostly incomprehensible but it's a bone to chew on.

Do you use personality typing in the real world?

I try to avoid that, I dislike the concept of boxing others in. It seems unwarranted, I would never meet the people if I overlaid them with some career choice examination.

Has personality typing helped you in any way?

It has made me more aware of my strengths and weaknesses, hence the strengths and weaknesses I have typed.

Do you prefer to associate yourself with certain types, and why?

ENTPs tend to have an ability to take a joke, but after the joke is over they walk away and don't care anymore.
That is why INTPs are the best type to befriend.

How did you initially find your way to PersonalityCafe?

I first joined INTP Central and I had a single discussion. I realized PerC had more variety. Now that I'm here everyone is an oppressive N type. So I was wrong, but I have not left.

    What made you join us?

The beige background is easy on my eyes.

Why did you choose "Grandmaster Yoda" as your username?

This name is a tool used to garner additional attention. If I were still a sheep I would not have survived to be a cafe legend. The name was ineffective. This one has always worked.

What is the significance of your current avatar?

This avatar was once a picture of a comic book page that I modified using a photo studio app. I consider it to be greatly improved and I credit myself for making it the way it is. Unlike the others, this is not a stolen piece of art, it is a modified stolen piece of art.

    How about your signature?

Hmm...I have always included Star Wars quotes or Kantian quotes in my signature. It was all done for Wolfie. This is explained in my book, "Wolfie, please understand me".

If you had to choose your favorite forum on PerC, which would it be?

My most "frequented" forum is INTP forum, but that is old data. I enjoy the critical thinking and philosophy forum the most.

What do you like most about PersonalityCafe?

I like the frighteningly unusual characters. Notice that all of them are either communists or furries. A departure from the mainstream is what I see.

What do you dislike most about PersonalityCafe?

I dislike the loading times. I wish everything could be compressed so that a smartphone could load it faster. But not the mobile site, I only use the desktop site for functionality.

What is the most important thing you've learned here?

Do not be a racist, or a sexist. Racism is everywhere and it is denied. There are other perspectives.

Do you have any advice for the community of PersonalityCafe?

I recommend that you all believe the words that come out of my account, but do not believe the account believes what words come out of it. If you did you would be commuting a logical fallacy of great proportions.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

The ability to reverse time so that I would not have to accept any consequences for my actions.

What do you know now that you wish you'd known five years ago?

I wish I knew I would be a complete failure with females. Then I would have kept myself away from making those mistakes that I haven't learned from and in fact only exaggerated to make everything worse.

What do you believe is your greatest accomplishment at this point?

My greatest accomplishment is recognizing my imperfection and partially accepting it.

Tell us something about yourself that we don't already know.

You all did not know that I was born into a conservative family and at first didn't care for 99% of the things any of you believe in.

What is next for you? What are your plans and goals for the future?

My future plans are to gain a cyber security degree so that I can join the NSA or FBI and gain access to top secret documents and information.

Folks of PerC, I have acknowledged that you have finally voted for GM Yoda, therefore you will all be awarded in the near-future. The impact will appear incidental but you will able to attribute it to my success through superstition and invalid reasoning. Appreciated, you are.
Dalien, Coburn, WamphyriThrall and 45 others thanked this post.

Much respect I have for Microsoft paint. Imagine a tool that lets you color in each pixel, that is paint installed with every copy of windows 3.1.

We put our trust...our faith in JJ to make this worthwhile. If he fails we will destroy his entire planet.
