Is he ISTP or ENTP? Test your typing abilities

He has been typed as both ENTP and ISTP separately by two knowledgable personality type gurus.

Who's correct, if any? Please give well reasoned arguments if possible! There's a cash prize for the most convincing answer...

    Thank you!

What functions did you see? Also feel free to suggest another type. The woman who’s channel it is, is an ESTP in case you were wondering.

I would of guessed ENXP even if you didn't give the 2 choices.

    Some reasons why:

He said living with your partner can demistfy them, and he said he thinks mystery is a good thing, sounds like Ne, Ne gets bored when it's got something all figured out.

He also said he is surprised by how often ppl don't have a time frame of how long the relationship should last in their mind, Se type wouldn't think that way because they are more in the present. So I'd say N because he's intuitively guessing how long the relationship would last.

He also rejects the idea that the same generic formula will work for everyone, sounds like Ne rejecting Si. And he encourages you to question the normal. He even acknowledges that he comes off as contrarian. Which is stereotypical for ENTPs.

He also taps into the perspective of people from a different timezone, Ne-Ti-Fe. He uses Ne and Ti to look at all the different facts that were in place in the lives of people that lived during WW2 and he uses the Ti facts to empathize with the people of that time and what they had to go through, Fe.

But with all this said, simply the fact that he starts the whole video with "If the world followed my ideas it would be a horrible place" ENTP right off the bat XD!

and an ISTP probably would of fixed that broken TV lol.

I also don't imagine an ISTP giving relationship advice, and if they did they may talk about the work you have to put in them to make them work, instead of challenging the norm like this ENTP guy is doing. Which is all Ne first Si last is about. Challenging tradition and the norms of society.

And the ESTP girl (which I agree she seems ESTP) she says this guy is exceptional with ppl. Fe last would have to be real developed to be exceptinoal with ppl.

Ok that's really interesting. Have you look into the objective personality typing system? Davesuperpowers is the name of the YouTube channel associated with it.

He said this guy is ISTP lead sleep, which means an ISTP who's saviour functions are Ti - Ni as opposed to the conventional Ti - Se.

    ISTP

Based on this video alone, ENTP. To me, this guy does not seem ISTP at all.

Agree wholeheartedly with this. The video just radiates Ne in my opinion for all these reasons. I don't really have much else to add in that case.

I'm unfamiliar with Davesuperpowers' typing system. I agree that this dude seems to have a pretty high Ti, but I see no Ni from this video... Just lots of Ne. In addition, his Fe is too high for it to be an inferior function. Also, if this guy were an ISTP in a Ti-Ni loop, he'd be so much more in his own head.

I mean going by DaveSuperPowers own definitions, this guy seems to have hero Ne and demon Si when he tells the viewer to question the norm, and when he admits he rejects the idea that the same generic formula will work for everyone, that sounds like classic Ne rejecting demon Si.

And since he is a Single Observer(the gap between Ne hero, Si demon), he's not as flexible with Ne/Si, so his Ne by default rejects Si. And even the way he edits his videos to get the most impact out of saying the "unexpected", he asks a question, cuts to a close up of his face saying the unexpected answer. "Why should you listen to me?" close up "You shouldn't!" It's the Ne rejecting Si again, and in a playfully flaunting way that shows a sense of pride in his "unconventionality", pushing against the norm again. Even the whole "What would Jesus do" and he changes it! Lol it's an Si sentiment, but he throws his Ne spin on it, essentially saying "Look how un-Si I am." And the best way he can do that is to present Si things, normal questions, old phrases, and put his un-normal spin on them.
Even flaunting thegall to question monogamy just comes off as very ENTP. Not just the question, but also the flaunting, it's like a pride in being provactive, that he later has to address when he realizes he's coming off as a contrarian to kill the notion that he might be doing it for contrarian sake, which ENTP is known to do, especially when arguing points they might not necessarily agree with, just for the sake of mental sparring. Flaunting unpopular opinions and being a contrarian is largely and XNTP sentiment.
Yea Ne/Si, it's too familiar to my own.

I feel like Ti hero and Fe demon, would stress the importance of honesty and directness in relationships, and ISTP would not play around with unconventional ideas as much, and ISTP probably would be talking more about things that work universally in every relationship due to their Ni being more reductive, their advice might sound more like "This is the way relationships work." as a universal observation, instead of "don't do what everybody does, find the nuance that works for you." which is more Ne. And their advice would be filled with principles to apply to relationships, and relationships would be spoken about in a much less casual manner and a more methodical, thought-heavy, and even mechanical manner, almost like a system. This is the sound of heavily analytical speech.

Dude is one of us ENTP Loki Bros. Facial microexpressions are great for telling Ne/Si apart from Ni/Se. That guy is a classic Ne dom eye roller, while the host does the Se look away to the same spot move.
