How to create a web based MBTI test

Does anyone know what I would need to do to create an MBTI test online? I THINK I have to have certification or something. And possibly a psychology degree.

    It's the internet...
Do you know how many unqualified people masquerade as people who actually know what the fuck they're talking about?

Anyway. Sorry, I don't really know how to go about that.

I don't think you meant it this way... but your question can be read as a commentary on the number of unqualified people out there creating online mbti quizzes... haha. in that reading, it's absolutely hilarious.

Yeah, every test out there sucks. If you desire to create a somewhat feasible one (unlike 99% of them out there), i'd advise you at least get some understanding of psychometrics/validity/operationalisation.

Honestly, I think they are unnecessary (function tests). On the other hand, mbti itself is a tool, so... if you're aiming to do a 'new' version mbti test, I suppose it could work (because essentially mbti is an attempt to operationalise Jung, so they've already done the work for you. Many people have called mbti into question though. Anyway, I digress a billion times). It all depends.

Anyone can create an online test and post it. But to create a highly reliable and valid test likely requires specialized knowledge and a keen understanding of psychometrics.

I doubt you could make an actual MB type indicator since there's already an official one. However, anyone can make a 'Jungian psychology' or 'MBTI-based' test.

You're right. It wasn't meant to talk smack on all other MBTI tests, although a lot of other people did talk smack about them.

My goal was to create a specialized version of the test that also attempts to type careers and then compare the users' interests with the characteristics of certain careers and whether they would like that. I'm not sure if it's actually possible though.

If you can, why don't you try? There are lots of free quiz sites out there. But of course! If you want to make a reliable, good one you would need proper understanding of the whole concept... You may not be able to create the PERFECT test but why dont you try? But maybe with not-so-revealing question. I would love to take the test. :p
