When your typing ability fails you. Lend me some wisdom members!!!

When it comes to MBTI there are some stereotypical behaviors or interests that pop up now and again that lead you to understand what someones personality may be . Even if its vague, like a Guardian or a Idealist.

My partner yields not one of these behaviors, but all and seemingly fits every stereotype progressively over a day.

    Its left me thoroughly stumped.

A different set of eyes, or perspective may be just what I need. Even if its a little comment that will set me off on the right direction its much appreciated! I will list some behaviours, comments, etc below

    Behaviors:

    - Always checks up on me throughout my day, without being prompted. Eg "Hows your day going, what would you like for dinner tonight"

    - Is very physically affectionate, with a constant stream of hugs, cuddles etc.

    - Plays devils advocate in discussions on theory. Even if he doesn't believe in the cause he is arguing for, likes to test you/wind you up.

-Very harmonious person/passive,rarely gets irritated, never gets angry. This only happens when people are "idiotic" or "slacking/inconsiderate" and he has to fix their mess.

    - Is talkative on topics about family, friends, veterinary theory alot (he is a vet), well any theory really. But is quiet the rest of the time.

    - Is career focused, as in has vague future plans/goals.

-Remembers peoples names, who they went out with, who there friends are, who there parents are. Has an interest in knowing how people are doing. Bad with staying in contact with those not in same town.

-Makes future plans, eg Plans holiday trips, where we are going what time. Is very laid back about plans changing, not a perfectionist at all, whatever gets the job done. Not detail orientated. But likes a plan.

    - When stressed he sleeps and eats to deal with it. Never admits he is stressed.

-Socializes with his friends with similar hobbies, but doesn't find any attraction in parties, big events, drinking etc.

    - Hobbies include Rock climbing, running, all forms of martial art , video games, reading, chess and cooking.

    - Is methodical, tactful, but not detail orientated.

Cant put everything down but hope this may give someone a flash of inspiration!

That sounds like an ENTP that is very close to bing an INTJ.

I thought he may be a Rational, so thankyou for the inspiration!

I thought he could perhaps be between 2 personalities, but thought I was perhaps just not seeing things clearly.

Your help is much appreciated thankyou!

When your typing ability fails you, you need to realize that the box you have put yourself in doesn't cut it.
The MBTI box is a severely limited box.
But I guess when you are living on the street homeless you can get quite attached to your box.
After all it at least give you some shelter and privacy, even though it this is of a limited kind.
I'd suggest you upgrade to a bigger box like the cognitive functions at least.
Sure you are still living on the street, but it keeps out the water better and have more room.

    @Strontphite Haha..ha..ha. That was a good metaphor.

My initial thought on this individual would be ISTJ. You explain him as relaxed even during times of stress/hard to make mad, which is a trait of the dominant perceiving types (ExxP, IxxJ). "Remembers people's names Ect" is a strong commonality among the Si types, Ti can be good at this too though so that could be interpreted either way."metholodical, tactful but not detail oriented" this is the one that makes me think SiTe instead of NeTi or TiNe. "When stressed sleeps and eats to avoid it" more from personal experience but all of the ISTJs I know tend to deal with their problems by sleeping them off or ignoring them. Repressed Ne/ultra inferior Ni often leads individuals to not want to deal with/worry about the future. Te in the ISTJ can lead them to be goal oriented but they aren't always going to be strong in thinking about the outcomes or future with these goals.

Just my 2 cents. To make an accurate observation I would actually have to meet him.

Your metaphor though beautifully put is however unneeded and presumptuous, but thankyou for your two cents. ^-^

Thankyou for you insight! I will have a look in this direction as well. I realize the difficulty of doing this without meeting him personally, but your two cents is much appreciated!

Seeks harmony, constantly attuned to how people are feeling, interested in social interaction, critical of people who are "idiotic" and "inconsiderate", methodical, likes a plan, tactful, not detail oriented, are all traits of an ENFJ. You may be picking up things about him that are wrong, but all things you mentioned are nothing but consistent with the ENFJs functional stack. The only thing that doesn't measure up is the playing the Devil's advocate. This is uncharacteristic of most ENFJs, but can be explained by a variety of factors. Maybe he likes the intellectual engagement with people, or maybe he wants to build his Ni mental map up with new insights. All I know is that I did not see any traits that solidly indicate a thinking preference or a perceiving preference. If anything, the combination of traits could only be explained by the ENFJ typing, unless you're one of those strong tertiarists who believe that the tertiary is just as strong as the dominant.
