Anyone else have trouble finding their enneagram type?

I swear, I've thought I was 4 different types. I fit into 1's, 5's, 6's, and 9's. It's difficult to pinpoint because I have always tried to strengthen my weaknesses. Part of my personality is to always improve and figure out what I could do differently. Anyway, I just took this test and got 6 marks in 1, 4 and 5. After reading the descriptions I'm thinking 5w4 looks about right, but I have been wrong before.

Anyone with more knowledge of enneagram types have some input to offer? Thanks!

It helped me to figure out the main ideas of each of the types.

    1 - perfection/doing right
    2 - love/helping others
    3 - achievement/success/image
    4 - meaning/identity
5 - understanding (the world around oneself)
    6 - security/skepticism/loyalty
    7 - happiness
    8 - control
    9 - harmony/peace/serenity/balance

I know that I primarily organize my life to create the greatest possible sense of peace and balance. So that is how I came to the conclusion my main type must be 9.

My tritype, wings, and instinctual variant stacking together draw a more complete picture of my motivations and how I structure my life, but that stuff can get pretty complex.

Well if I were to base it solely off the info you just posted, I fit into 4 and 5 quite well. So 4w5 or 5w4 makes sense. I'm going to read those again and get back to you.

After reading about 4w5 and 5w4 I think I'm going to stick with my latest assumption and say 5w4! haha

I feel like I'm having an identity crisis every time I take the enneagram test... or even just thinking about it. I can confide in every type.

Thanks for posting that, rowingineden. It did provide me a clearer understanding of the nine types. I'm almost certain I'm a 9 with an 8 wing. As for my tri type... who knows. I give up.

I have tested as 7 almost every time, but I still don't know about it. I don't fit the superficial personality trait description of 7 -- I'm not super happy and cheerful and outgoing, at ALL. I'm more like a 4 in that way. But the deep motivations and fears, I identify with 7 way more than 4, and I guess that's what counts.
