I thought it was absolutely hilarious that the majority of the poll picked INFJ. I would not want myself as a kid. Like I gave my parents no trouble at all, but I was certainly lazy with chores[not intentionally], and didn't speak much to them.

I'd take an ESFJ. They are probably going to be the easiest.

it depends on the parents' types as well i guess. why only 1 ISTJ?

I don't want children, but since this is purely hypothetical, I'll go with ENFJ. I think it would be great to raise an NF, as I am one. I imagine taking the kid to the library a lot, doing art projects, and encouraging their individuality.

I also don't think I'd want to pass on the difficulties of being an introvert, but I wouldn't want a child so extroverted they did not understand me either. I find ENFJs grasp introversion pretty well for Es.

Lastly, I'd like a J kid, who has some sense of organization (I know NJs are not always organized in a traditional sense though), because as much as I love my spontaneous side, more structure would probably make my life easier.

I love the name OrangeAppled, and I love the song.

I don't deserve children and certainly wouldn't want to raise them in this kind of world.
If I did, my ideal would be to raise an INFP, because that's what I think I'd be most qualified to deal with, being one myself, and understanding what it is like.

    OrangeAppled thanked this post.

Whether or not I actually will have kids is actually a point really ambiguous for me at the moment, and more recently I've been more definitive about believing I won't have kids (though I'd like to be definitive about thinking I don't believe in a higher power, though never can truly bring myself to think like that either, so it's sort of the same scenario and whether or not I will be able to say I want to or don't will only be made definitive when I have them or am dead or possibly completely sterile I suppose :-P). I didn't realize multiple choices were an option, and with regards to what I actually did vote I went with ENTP, though I voted that primarily for my child's sake than my own as a parent... ENTPs are probably the only types that could truly do anything they'd want to do, while not sacrificing their general human qualities trying to obtain that want (unlike a lot of "successful" ENTJs who are similarly equipped). As they're also intuitive I'd be able to relate to them well enough, yet we'd be different enough to actually have a complementary relationship, and as Fe is my auxiiary I'd be able to aid them morally, making them even more versatile and again simply "good people".

I don't think I'd really mind having any of the types for children though aside from ESTJs, ESFPs, and possibly ENTJs... I get disgusted by the amoral nature of most of those types I meet in real life, so I don't know how I could genuinely care for my child if they would have almost no sense of honor and compassion... Again, maybe I COULD instill those sorts of values within them, but I definitely think that'd be more difficult than doing that for children of other types.

I also don't know how well I could actually guide any S child, as we'd think so differently I think that would make it difficult for me to cater to their strengths and learning styles while not betraying my own nature... Reflecting on things more so I'd be a little bit worried to raise an INFP too, just because of how the world doesn't cater to them at all, as sad as it is... Maybe as my preferences are so similar they'd be able to trust that I'd be there for them, but I'm not sure how well I could actually be a "rock" for an INFP child, because as is typical of INFJs I can be critical for the sake of doing good, and I don't know if they could understand that well enough with reference to their functionology...

I'm sounding way too clinical now I think, but these are my thoughts on parenthood and more reasons I don't feel like I'd make a good parent and/or would just want to be...

i only picked INFP because as an INFP myself i would know how to nurture and support them to be healthy happy adult INFPs :) probably an idealistic fantasy, as i suspect the "wounded to the core" requisite of INFPness has to come from somewhere....

otherwise i don't think i could pick any personality type over another for my child(ren). i think it'd be interesting to get to know them as they grow... :)
