    Lol meat taste too good

Also, we do not need to turn vegan... a substantial decrease in red meat would be helpful

Meh, eat less beef and more chicken and pork. Cattle are the land hogs.

Apparently scientists have been experimenting with harvesting insects for food. I saw a news segment not long ago about crickets being ground up and mixed with flour in bread production. lol.

I asked a vegan whether or not eating insects is morally permissible. She said no. Oh well. Might be interesting to think about, though.

There are numerous reasons as to why I'll never stop my meat-intake:
    - nutritional efficiency/cost is better then any non-meat diet

    - local plants CAN ONLY be grown naturally 6-8 months per year and is heavily dependant on weather, which livestock isn't

    - the local eco-production must be encouraged due the country having the strictest laws on animal abuse in the world.. next best is buying local here

    - cattle living outside is GOOD for the environment, else the landscape will grow into a vast mono-culture which hurts the ecosystems thriving on open grounds, humans NEED open fields to grow stuff in, livestock is a part of this land usage cycle

    - cattle makes unusable fields of grass USEFUL, land usage efficiency, there's plenty land which only use is for livestock to eat in this country

    - security for the nation, buying local meats here means increasing self-sufficiency&preparedness&continuity&resilience for harsher times

    - livestock grown in eco-friendly manners is climate neutral

Insect harvest is brilliant and is a forgotten sustainable protein in developed countries. For next to no cost in tiny space, you can create your own insect farm. Grubs have a reasonable to high level fat content which is necessary for the human body to function.

I've been thinking about trying them, starting with toasted meal worms. But it will rely on whether I can find someone who's knowledgeable about cooking them in order to ensure they're free of parasites and toxins, and ways of cooking them to ensure they're tasty.

What about those not trying to survive? Do we keep eating meat? Asking for a friend.

There's actually books on these subjects out here. Part cooking instructions, part growing instructions.
