EII in Socionics - Am I INFJ or INFP?

    Hey everybody,

I'm quite new to socionics, but I'm very much into the MBTI and I have a good understanding of myself as an INFJ, but after taking the Socionics test and getting EII, I realise that equates to INFP in MBTI, correct?

If that's the case, does this mean I'm really an INFP in the MBTI or that I'm still an INFJ but it's possible to be both INFJ, and also be EII in socionics?

I'm pretty confused about this because I know very little about it. Can someone please help me understand my types better? Do they need to correlate more?

Insight: My Enneagram type is 4w3 sp/sx

The test are often inaccurate so be careful with that. Anyway, you can freely type as different type in both theories. That said, EII is commonly associated with INFP as they share the same function stack, Fi-Ne as leading and secondary function, etc. IEI would make more sense if you are an Infj as they are both Ni-Fe. My personal advice would be to read about socionics type a bit before trying to match your mbti. Hope that can help you.

Thank you so much! Yes, I’ll have to read more. I really appreciate your input. What’s your best recommendation for online socionics tests?

What socionics test did you take? You could also use basic descriptors to confirm your type.

INFJ: Absorb emotions, make decisions in favor of society/group, future goal oriented, concrete action. Directive: Go.
INFP: Mirror emotions, make decisions based on personal values, possibility considering, indecisive action. Informative: There's a green light.

Socionics Type Assistant TURBO More likely to give MBTI.

    Tests Pretty reliable on socionics.

I took the test on the SocioType website. I'm pretty sure I still relate to INFJ in MBTI even though I'm EII in Socionics. :)

Socionics types generally match up better with their suggested MBTI types despite having different functions (EII is INFj which matches best with INFJ). But they are two different things which shouldn't be equated at all.

Read about the Temperaments: Socionics Temperaments

People who match Socionics to MBTI by functions would say that IP temperament means MBTI IJ, and IJ temperament means MBTI IP. Yet, when you read the traits associated with these temperaments, it's quite clear that it's the opposite.

I've been fascinated by this too. I test Ell as well and in MBTI INFJ.

It's almost like introverts who lead with a "judging" function are still "judgers," eh?

I would look into the two descriptions of INFj and INFp (as well as the subtype descriptions with two explanations of a type). I honestly don't think it makes sense to be two different types using completely different functions in two different systems. Testing oneself can always lead to inaccuracies. In socionics I tested as an INTj (which is an INTP in mbti). Look at the functions more thoroughly to get a type down. The differences between Fe and Fi are pretty easy to spot once you get the hang of it
