1. What is beauty? What is love?
Beauty is something that canít really be described, itís something you feel. Itís subjective, but common enough that most of us hold similar ideas of it. Beauty is something that evokes a sense of complete appreciation for the perfectness or near perfectness of the object. Iíve never thought about a definition of beauty before, but I do believe itís more an experience than anything. Love is a similar thing in that itís an experience. Itís a chemical reaction in your head but that doesnít make it any less real or special considering everything we see, touch, and feel is a chemical reaction in our head. Love is a deep care for someone or something outside yourself. Itís that, but more and Iím not sure how to describe it.
2. What are your most important values?
Independence, integrity, open mindedness but also a firm base of identity
3. Do you have any sort of spiritual/religious beliefs, and why do you hold (or don't) those beliefs in the first place?
I donít. Iím atheist because I donít see any reason to believe there is anything more than we can experience. However if there was some kind of definitive proof of some kind of higher spiritual power I wouldnít be resistant to accepting it. I judt donít believe that proof exists.
4. Opinion on war and militaries? What is power to you?
War and militaries are something we should aim to abolish completely, however that isnít currently viable or realistic, but it should be something to shoot for. I donít know if thatís ever possible, but we should still try. Power is the ability to get what you want.
5. What have you had long conversations about? What are your interests? Why?
Iíve had long conversations about life aspirations, philosophy, ethics, and life in general. Also discussions about art and the artistic process with other people who enjoy art. These conversations donít happen often as there havenít been many people Iíve gotten close enough to/comfortable with enough to discuss these things without being weird, but theyíre conversations I love. Iím interested in games, books, some poetry, and tv shows because they all give amazing interpretations of life I think we can learn from and enjoy. Iím interested on improving myself as a person. Iím still young so I think thereís lots of malleability to who I can be, but I want to be someone I like. As a result Iím interested in fashion (not like. Fashion fashion, but i enjoy shopping, mostly band merch), working out, and things like that. That also goes for personality though as Iím interested on working on who I am personality-wise.
6. Interested in health/medicine as a conversation topic? Are you focused on your body?
Iím kind of interested in health as a conversation topic. Iím young and healthy so itís nor something Iím particularly worried about right now, but as it pertains to exercise and aesthetic body improvements Iím interested if I can learn something. I enjoy working on my body, but itís not something Iím obsessed with.
7. What do you think of daily chores?
Hate em. I know that itís part of being in a family, but I know as soon as I move out Iím not keeping a routine like that.
8. Books or films you liked? Recently read/watched or otherwise. Examples welcome.
Invisible Monsters (Remix), The Great Gatsby, Fight Club (movie better than book in this instance imo), Punisher TV show, Bojack Horseman. Iím also gonna list some games for anyone familiar with them cause I think they have some great stories: The Bioshock series, Life is Strange series, Fran Bow, and things like that are really good.
9. What has made you cry? What has made you smile? Why?
I havenít really cried recently. This past weekend I teared up a bit because of this game I was playing (Life is Strange: Before the Storm), cause it reminded me of a past relationship I had. It made me smile a lot too though. Besides that I normally smile when Iím being stupid or find something funny. I donít cry as much as I used to.
10. Where do you feel: at one with the environment/a sense of belonging?
I donít feel like I belong with where Iím at right now, but I believe I can in the right environment. I go to a prep school and I donít hate the kids here, but for the most part they either seem fake or just like kids I donít really wanna hang out with. Iím going to college next year though and I hear itís a lot easier to make friends with people you like there so I have high hopes.
Evaluation & Behaviour
11. What have people seen as your weaknesses? What do you dislike about yourself?
I see myself as too reserved. Itís something Iíve worked on and Iíve made significant improvement on. Iím an emotional person, but Iíve been pretty terrible at communicating and showing it. Iím happy with how far Iíve come because I feel like I more accurately show how Iím feeling now.
12. What have people seen as your strengths? What do you like about yourself?
Individuality. Iíve always done things the way I want to do them. I may have been uncomfortable with it but itís always been more uncomfortable for me to conform to something I donít like or approve of. Iíve become much more comfortable doing what I want though. I believe I have a better self awareness than most people, but I also realize that may be an egotistical bias so take that as you will. I like my openness as itís allowed me to enjoy life. The more Iíve become open to new experiences, the better Iíve been.
13. In what areas of your life would you like help?
I donít really want help. I enjoy finding things out the hard way,
14. Ever feel stuck in a rut? If yes, describe the causes and your reaction to it.
Iíve been affected heavily by depression sixth grade through junior year of high school, but this past year Iíve felt consistently good. CBT and EMDR along with personal decisions after the fact have helped me get out of the rut, but substance really kept me afloat during it. I still use substance, but it isnít problematic, itís regular teenage stuff.
People & Interactions
15. What qualities do you most like and dislike in other people? What types do you get along with?
As long as someone is authentic and not an asshole I can get along with them. I enjoy being around authentic non assholes who share similar interests, are charismatic, or are willing to talk about meaningful things, not necessarily all of the above, but the more the better.
16. How do you feel about romance/sex? What qualities do you want in a partner?
Romance/sex is exciting as you get to get to better know and be familiar with someone you care about. In a partner I like energy, spontaneity, open mindedness, but a firm sense of identity, creativity, loyalty, passion about their interests, and a sense of adventure
17. If you were to raise a child, what would be your main concerns, what measures would you take, and why?
I would have concerns that they would have similar troubles to mine, but at the end of the day I think the best way for them to learn is on their own. Of course Iíd be there if they needed me, but Iíd be very hands off.
18. A friend makes a claim that clashes with your current beliefs. What is your inward and outward reaction?
It depends on what itís about. If itís something that matters to me ethically then Iíll confront them about it and if they donít change, I wouldnít be able to, with a good conscious, call them my friend anymore. If itís not something that I believe is an issue of morality then I wouldnít care, but it may be an interesting topic of discussion.
19. Describe your relationship to society. How do you see people as a whole? What do you consider a prevalent social problem? Name one.
I mean Iím just a kid. Itís hard to categorize all people as a whole but after getting to talk to people I can normally put them in a category of kind of person Iíve interacted with before. People tend to be unauthentic, but of course there are some people that surprise you. Self centeredness is a big social problem, but itís tough because it isnít completely bad.
20. How do you choose your friends and how do you behave around them?
I pick people that I think are similar to me, people Iím interested by, and people I admire. I behave the same as I normally do, but I feel more comfortable initiating those kinds of deeper conversations with them.
21. How do you behave around strangers?
Iím comfortable interacting with strangers on a regular day to day basis (customer service, people who I need something from etc.). I donít go out of my way to interact with strangers on a day to day basis though. Iím comfortable interacting with strangers in settings where we all donít know each other and I do very well in that respect, but I have more trouble integrating myself into existing social ecosystems, and I find it easier to stick to myself.
