I'm not sure if too many people know MBTI and enneagram, and personally I'm new to enneagram, however after reading the description it seemed a little iffy to have this particular combo. I love it, and I'm flattered, it's what I want to be like, but I'm unsure if it's really me. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

To me, off the bat, it does seem like a clashing combo. As it's core type 5s are usually IxTx's, mostly INTP/ISTP.

Say if you're at a party would you rather go out and socialise or sit in a room alone watching other people socialise?
If it's the first part, then it's unlikely that you're a type 5. If it's the latter, you're unlikely to be an introvert. However, it could be that you are a 4w5? imo they're a lot more likely to be extroverts compared to being a type 5.

Hi HisPar,

Don't know if you've found the answers you're looking for, but wanted to let you know that I am an ENFP 5w4. A rare combination - but yes, we do exist. Some of the features of this combination that I think are helpful in identifying whether it fits for you include the following:
- Emotions are processed through the head first, which means it takes some time to know 1) whether you are upset, and 2) what the emotion is.
- Your thinking is strong, but despite this, it feels hard to put what you feel into a form that feels acceptable to you (e.g. clear, logical)
- There is a real tension between wanting to be in a situation and enjoy every moment, and wanting to observe from a distance for fear of having your resources depleted.
- We don't like hearing ourselves being long-winded, rambling or overly-emotional.

These are just a few things I've noticed for myself. I wonder whether they fit for you?

IxTx's are the most common fives, though being aware of MBTI type theory since honestly childhood, I've come across some ENTP type 5s and some INFPs type 5s. I'm guessing from what I know from them and how to relate it to ENFPs, it is possible, but also very rare. INFP type 5s come across in a way that rather than use their knowledge searching needs for more intellectual topics, they often do so for more emotional topics. ENTP 5s are likely some kind of five with social instincts, in that their "5ishness" often gets shown in collecting information from debating with a lot of people in all kinds of socialized conversations. What people don't get about enneagram is that enneagram simply defines people's motivations and major insecurities, but it never really talks about how those are expressed in some kind of behavior that MBTI emphasizes.

Again, it's possible, but rare.

Yes, I am an ENTP 5w4 and I can confirm, this is precisely how it is. I am very much a 5, sitting back, analyzing everything, researching endlessly day in and day out, changing my mind about things, changing my mind about myself, but what you will begin to notice when you look at what it is that I'm studying that there is always an extroverted "angle" to it. I'm psychoanalyzing everyone I know, researching their personality types, even playing mind-games with them sometimes to get further information and investigate the essence of what makes them tick, all in a great effort to understand myself and understand my place in this world. Rather than engage in this research in an armchair, I "go into the field" to do field research, if you follow what I mean here. I go to the house parties, I go to the conferences, I am not stressed out with being friendly or optimistic or positive for other people, so I can very quickly build a rapport with a person and earn their trust by being entertaining. Furthermore, what distinguishes me from an introvert is how, rather than keep this information to myself, I want to share it with everyone around me all the time. I want to improve everyone's lives by stealing fire from the gods and sharing it with humanity. But I don't do this because I feel love and compassion for people. I do this because, if humanity was uplifted, then I could learn even more, because I would have an even higher standard for studying, and even more potential ideas would exist to explore and be discovered..

Patti smith is an INTP/ILI-Ni 5w4 so/sx. "ENFP 5w4" is impossible.
I don't particularly value MB (much less Socionics). That is, I don't believe they're particularly accurate maps, so we shouldn't expect ourselves or others to fit into these boxes. Having said that, as a sx/so 5w4, I certainly seem to profile best as XNFP. It might be fair to go with INFP, but I can look ENFP just as easily, certainly if you pump me full of intoxicants. (I'm guessing 99% of Patti's time in the public eye has been under the influence of one thing or another.)

I'm scratching my head at the thought of her as Social. Everything about her screams Sexual to me.
