Any INFP's who are muscular and are gym rats here?

Don't look in my direction!

My dad always tries to pressure me to go to the gym, he says I have the ideal build to get buff (I disagree). Unfortunately, I don't have the motivation and I also don't get the appeal of it all. I go running, but that's because I enjoy the freedom and scenery of it all, something I don't really feel when cooped up in a gym.

I'll have extreme motivation to workout for a couple days, then I go back to being lazy and procrastinating. ;)

Aw, no love for thin, lanky INFP males with no noticeable muscle on them?

Not a gym rat, but I do a lot of exercise. I would describe myself as fit and am quite strong, but fairly lean compared to people who lift a lot of weights. Sometimes I notice all of a sudden that a new muscle has developed, that I have never felt before, which is a really cool feeling. I'm tall, with a solid build.

If I get more time, I will begin lifting weights so that I can gain the extra muscle mass, but I also quite like the type of functional strength and lean physique you get from exercise that doesn't involve weights. It produces a very different type of muscle to what weights do and actually changes the way your body processes energy, making it more efficent. The body actually becomes more capable of absorbing oxygen and can use it more effectively. When the body runs out of oxygen to burn due to strenuous exercise, it starts burning other things and this produces lactic acid. Lactic acid inhibits the contraction of muscles causing you to fatigue and start to feel weaker. When you become more fit, you start to have physiological changes, the body produces less lactic acid because it is absorbing more oxygen and becomes capable of removing lactic acid from the muscles more quickly, so that you gain more endurance. Even a single, very hard exercise session, can produce significant physiological changes in the body, so it can be really cool what it can do if you train at high intensity for long periods of time.

I use my shoulders a lot when I exercise, and put them through thousands of repetitions per session: 2,000 to 4,000 reps, three times a week. The shoulders are a very vulnerable, free floating joint, so I need to start lifting weights so that I can build a strong structure of muscle around them, in order to protect them from injury.

No, I have definite muscle tone but am very thin. I intentionally took this semester off from school to focus on gaining weight. Hopefully, by next semester, I will be bigger, look better and feel more confident :(

I used to do weights and I'd run regularly but both of these practices have fallen by the wayside. I need to get back into it though because it was good for my bad back and overall health. I was never 'built' or a gym rat though. Just more health conscious than I am currently.

Well not really a gym rat per se... but I do take care of my body. I like to run, do yoga, go hit some balls at the batting cage, anything active and fun to keep my body lean. I don't obsess over it, and it's not really a priority in my life. I used to go to the gym and make myself do all this circuit training and weight lifting, but it just wan't very fun. I'm all about finding fun ways to get fit. Yoga is my absolute favorite. I also love dancing.

I've seen Yoga produce amazing results in terms of muscle tone and also flexibility.

It's very true, the increased flexibility is incredible. And to be frank, nothing shapes the butt quite like yoga ;)

My ex did a lot of yoga and other things and it seemed to give her amazing core strength. Her abdominal muscles were rock solid, and it wasn't just the front of the abdomen which you often see when someone has a six pack, it was 360 degrees around her whole abdomen. I had never seen anything like it :)

Hard, vigorous exercise feels great when I have someone else to motivate me, id prefer someone to exercise with. I practise yoga when I remember but a lots been happening and so exercise has taken a bit of a down turn. Its a shame coz I normally love to exercise and to feel the strain and pain, you know its working.

not so - when I was much younger I had a big eye for the 'stick insect' as my mum put it. Most of my boyfriends where lean and lanky!

of course. you just need to find the right girl and if she's anything like I was, she'll be hiding in the corner watching you secretly! (not that I am now... as that would just be so wrong!!)
