The title says it all.

Specifically, can a social dominant 459 tritype mimic the behavior of a typical outgoing 479?

In essence what you are asking is if you can mimic a 7.
Or are you asking for a "friend"?

Regardless, the answer is simple, a 5 disintegrates into a 7.
So yes, just do some drugs, quit your job and alienate your friends,
that should create more than enough pressure on your ego to make you mimic a 7.

Well, I'm a dominant social 4w5 with 459 as a tritype, but I can really look outgoing and goofy when I'm around people I know. That's why I had such a hard time identifying with the 459 description a first.

In the enneagram you are not looking at the surface level actions of goofy and outgoing.
You are looking at the WHY underneath, what motivates it?

If you are with friends and feel like being goofy and outgoing
because it feels comfortable and safe that is one thing.
If you feel like being goofy and outgoing,
because it makes you flee from unpleasant inner feelings that is another.

You have to look for the cause of the behavior not the behavior itself,
else you turn into yet another pseudo behaviorist,
attaching stereotypes where you see fit.

I feel like those two reasons are why I feel the need to be this way around people I know. It's almost like I have this automatic behavior in order to hide my actual feelings. I give them a positive demeanor of mine in order to be accepted and not become separated from them. But, in reality, I really want to be left alone most of the time. I want to observe my surroundings and not be disturbed by it. I want to explore life both emotionally and intellectually at my one pace.
