I just did the test to my dad and he came as INTJ... but I've been reading about it and yes, he is a looottt like many of the stuff describing INTJ's but he is definitely not "evilish", "scary" or serious like a lot of the INTJ's describe themselves... he is very charismatic with people that know him well, he is funny and is making silly jokes ALL the time, he is laughing all the time, he loves his family and he is very affectionate with us, especially with the girls... Im an INFP and sometimes I think he is more of a INFP but yet displays all of the INTJ's characteristics.. so can some of you INTJ's relate to him??

How is he around people that don't know him well? I ask primarily because there is something to be said for some INTJs planning capabilities being used so much and having such a drive in understanding humor that yeah an INTJ could be the life of the party if in one's comfort zone and sticking to within the competencies one has. I likely have more than a few people that would describe me as funny and warm-hearted.

Another theory here is that he may just have a well developed Fi function within him that makes him enjoy the kind of social role you describe. Another thought here is to really try to look at his jokes and see if there is a sarcastic tone in it or if he is putting himself down through self-deprecating humor. If you don't know much about MBTI you could look up the cognitive functions to get a better idea of what is in here.

Yeah, well maybe with people that dont know him he is quiet, not putting himself on the spot... he is analyzing everything. he is very very intelligent, and he fits perfectly the "strategist" title of his personality...

I can see this is a little bit true, but what does it mean? Because yes.. he makes sarcastic jokes like this and and sometimes he makes jokes making fun of the "situation" and he is very imaginative as well

I also find that he is very intelligent and everything but still is difficult for him to get his thoughts or ideas done, because of his "fear" of being rejected or something like that... it gets frustrating because we are like "dad, you are so great at this, you are so smart! how can't you get to go and talk with this guy that is going to give you a great job"... we dont say it out loud very often but I think that he could do sooo much better with his capacity...

The reason INTJs are often seen as scary is their lack of facial expression (death stare) which to people who don't know them equals scary/evil.
I've come across three persons on PerC whom I thought were xxFJ and they turned out to be INTP. I guess it would be the same with INTJs using Fi (don't know much about this) and appear to be xxFP. It's a matter of using tertiary/inferior functions.

I have a similar side of myself that I'll tend to hide or just not push things for fear of getting some form of retaliation that is where I differ from some other points within an INTJ description so it isn't a perfect fit for me. Could there be the potential for him to have an inner self-critic that may keep him humble? For all of my funny and warm-hearted sides of myself, I can also be rather emotionally sensitive and can be in tears rather easily. I also tend to be ridiculously hard on myself and push myself better than most others could push me. If you need more examples about this side of things look up threads involving flirting or dating and an INTJ as there are many examples of this already in these forums that has a good search feature as I recall.

I can be extremely warm-hearted toward my family and a select few, but I don't express it well. Or maybe at all - I'm not sure how well I come across in that area.

As for a sense of humor, I've got plenty - maybe too much! It seems to be tolerated well here, but I get a lot of groans in person, as well as the occasional "I'm backing away slowly because you need to be locked up" stares. Quite frankly even I find my sense of humor obnoxiously overdone at least a few times a day.

I guess I should add that my sense of humor is mostly my dad's fault, and the "nice" label that I get sometimes is from my upbringing. So there's a lot more at play to these things than just MBTI.

He's probably just mature and well-rounded. I would say I'm pretty warm and sensitive. I'd also echo the statements about familiar people. To outsiders, I'm closed off. He's probably a lot warmer with close family and friends.

Also, the older I find I've got, the more I accept that I'm not a genius or anything like that, which I used to think as a kid. This may explain why your dad is a little more cautious in his abilities - life experience. Compared to a lot of other INTJs, I seem to be a lot less confident, so I don't think the 'fear' that you describe is that unusual.

I had someone tell me once my death stare looked like a Baader-Meinhof Gang mugshot....but I think I am fairly warm and humorous. Really. I wasn't when I was younger - it was all arrogance, contempt and attitude. Maybe it is an age thing.

If you're "in" with me and I feel like the relationship warrants it, I can be very affectionate and caring. As with Jack Byrnes, this "circle of trust" is quite small.

Warm hearted? Only towards a handful of select, highly trusted, highly valued people. Humorous? It's a natural quality.

I am warm hearted but no matter how hard i try i fail to show it , as for humorous the only time i appear to be humorous is when i'm in what i consider it to be an uneasy situation for me or if i was going through a mild depression, i think it's my way of hiding my unease or depression of course if i was going through a major depression phase i keep to my self and as result appear to be angry but if things are not very serious i don't want people to know i'm unhappy. However when i say humorous it's a relative term, there's a difference between what i consider it to be humorous and what other people do ...

This is probably a big one for most INTJs. Not everyone appreciates ironic or sarcastic or bone dry humor.

Really? Everyone I know does. [Then again, I rarely leave my house, so that's not a lot of people...]

Yeah i can relate to alot of this. I think I'm pretty warm hearted. In fact my class mates voted me most friendly my senior year of high school (who knew). But I will say this was after 4 years of knowing alot of them. Once I sort of know what to expect from the people around me, I'm can be pretty charismatic, charming, humorous ect. It is a natural quality when it makes "logical sense" to use it. After I become friends with someone, it's logical to be humorous/charming with them as opposed to being super friendly with everyone I meet. Unless of course that was my objective for that situation. Still that would take alot of energy.
