I'm very hard working when I want to be. I just need something that drives me. I can be very competitive sometimes, not only with others, but with myself. I set very high standards for myself and am a perfectionist.
In college I was the only girl in some of my classes, and that drove me to prove myself, especially to the male professors who figured I would drop the class in a week. I loved seeing the surprise on their faces when I got the high score on the midterms. It was also very satisfying to me to be presented with a challenge and come out on top after blood, sweat, and tears.
I also like to push myself physically, for fun. A lot of people tell me I'm crazy to make myself work that hard, but for me it's gratifying.
Also, if there's some project I want to get done, I have no problem shoveling dirt all day in the heat. It's harder for me to get motivated with daily maintainace tasks, because I get bored with them after a while. If there's a new, big project to do, though, I'll work my butt off to get it done.
