That just means your normal especially with the stress you have been put under. I was the same way when my father passed away. That was a life altering event and so was yours so its normal and healthy for it to be coming out which is better than bottling it up inside. In fact I remember being so upset I started going around the kitchen opening up and slamming cabinet doors and yelling in between slams about the screwed up medical care he got(which anyone who knows me at all would tell you is so very very unlike me) I think more than anything I was making up for the lack of emotion my older brother was showing. He just flew in from another state when the hospital reported my dad was touch and go while I was the one who was there the whole time taking care of him for many years.

Mood swings are all the good stuff and bad stuff coming to the surface all at the same time. The good thing is that you recognize that you are having mood swings because that helps you to not go overboard. Those are good times to know you need to chill out and phone a friend/trusted relative, write in your journal, stuff your earbuds in and get lost in some music. Basically get into something that is going to help you ride the wave of emotion until you land safely on shore so you can sort things out for yourself.

My heart goes out to you. They say with every suffering comes relief. I hope you find your day of relief soon enough.

thats understandable! i mean i totally do that all the time now (and i never do stuff like that ya know??) i just want it to stop... ha

It will, this was not an overnight thing that happened to you so it is going to take time. I hope you get in touch with a good counselor/therapist/or school psychologist. Whichever one you can connect with best. They are great in that they are like a safe/knowledgeable/well-meaning stranger who acts like a Sherpa guide through confusing situations (especially when you are being bombarded with emotions left and right from inside yourself and the people around you) . I had a good experience with one back when I had some issues to sort out about school. If anything their offices just tend to be a nice peaceful place where you can just think.

Remember that any good doctor can stitch you up or put a cast on your arm or leg when it's broke but the power to heal comes from within you. I think that is a really beautiful thing when you think about it.

I'm happy for you. I'm not an angry person either and prefer to be happy but I'll tell ya, there are plenty of things in life that make me mad. Mostly just social injustice. We all have a place on this planet so why can't we all just get along. I think it all starts in kindergarten when that one kid decides no one else can use that red crayon. Drama, drama....can't live with it....life wouldn't be life without it. Don't mind my silliness. It's my defense mechanism, but I am of the opinion that if you can laugh despite all the lemons that life hits you in the head with you may feel dazed and confused for a while but haven't been knocked out cold by life yet. Besides, it really frustrates people who take pleasure from other people's misery. I swear there was a thread about this very same thing the other day on here. Keep your chin up and keep swinging at those lemons life throws at you. You may just knock some people out for a loop.

Reasons why you might be volatile in your moods:
1. You're PMSing
2. Something dramatic or life changing has happened to you, therefore it has activated a part of your brain that controls emotions, and made it... you know... hyper
3. You're a teenager, therefore your hormones are "outta control!"
4. You have experienced something traumatic
5. You have anger/emotional issues from a dramatic series of misfortunate events from your childhood, and it has come back to haunt you.
6. You ate nuclear waste!
:D
I know you'll hate me for posting this TOTALLY non-helpful post. If you're in a bad mood... Um... Spare me. Anyways, I hope this cheered ya up!

That cheered me up! I needed that too. I go through the same thing and I am past all the PMSing. But that was a bad one when I used to have it.

I am past the teenager years but that was a bad time for me too. All the rest does apply to me. Even eating nuclear waste. That is the one we do and don't even realize we do it. It is called junk food and it does affect the moods.

You have gone through so much and are going through more than anyone of your age should have to handle. I would suggest to learn as much as possible from the emotion management classes. And add to that putting away as much responsibility that you can. Take care of yourself for a while and let your family do thier thing. It is not your responsibility to take care of them. It is your responsibility to take care of you.
