"A dandy is a man who places particular importance upon physical appearance, refined language, and leisurely hobbies, pursued with the appearance of nonchalance in a cult of Self."

For those familiar with dandyism, I suggest that dandies are almost always xNTPs. Any discussion?

For those unfamiliar with dandyism, learn everything you can about it in 30 minutes (other options include more than 30 minutes and less than 30 minutes),

Also, does anyone else on this forum subscribe to dandyism?

Interesting question. Are you familiar with Robert Greene?

As a reply, I never thought of it. I would suggest NTP or ESxP. Could you tell me more about your NTP and Dandyism theory? I find it intriguing. Especially if you have any thing to say about cognitive functions and dandyism.

Nope.

ENFP
ENTP
ESTP
ESFP

Come right off the top of my head.

INFJ as well.

INTP and INTJ don't give a fuck how they look, and nothing about ENTJ's would be dandyish.

Read "The Human Zoo"

There's a chapter that covers dandyism
The art of seduction covered the use of dandyism, the human zoo explains the why.

Dandyism is a pursuit of extreme self-honesty explored through aesthetics and amoral hedonism.

A dandy is morally nihilistic. Here I eliminate all non-NTs as common possibilities.

ENTPreneur and I agree that ENTPs are more common than INTPs. The performing nature of dandyism is more attractive to an E, but I challenge your general assertion about INTxs. I think the difference in dress between extraverts and intraverts is exaggerated. Anecdotally, I know of numerous INTPs who pay attention to their appearance.

Dandies embrace hedonism, which is unnatural for Judgers. A Judger’s pragmatism usually does not grant aesthetics and immediate pleasure any utility.

ENTPreneur, I understand why you could have quickly thought of the ExxPs, but could you explain your rationale for INFJ? I fail to imagine a possible one.

This is debatable. It is certainly true that I didn't give a shit about how I looked until the age of 18 but recently I've been dressing well and working on my style (how others perceive me). I don't really care if others dislike my style however because the style I have developed is a representation of my personality. My INTJ friend is the same although I don't think that he is aware of his motivations.

I used to be a bit of a dandy a while ago. Was always a bit too concerned with what other people thought about me to properly get into it. Still like dandy-esque clothing though. I'm always impressed by people who can wear it. I wear slacks and a tucked in shirt and I feel like people are judging me, lolz. (I still love it, though.) Nowadays I dress much more fashionably and casually. Damn I still like to dress smart though, when I feel like it/the occasion calls for it... teenagers dress too immaturely in my view.
