I rarely take initiative on many things. I usually just like to listen and observe. So I am wondering what or when are some instances where INTPs would take an initiative?

The last time I remember taking initiative was with a group of 4 indecisive people, standing in the middle of the road on a blazing hot day just waiting for them to make up their minds on going to which restaurant to eat (lasted for more than 20 minutes). I had enough of their petty BS and just said "WE'RE GOING TO THAT RESTAURANT OVER THERE!!" and pointed randomly at a nearby restaurant. Needless to say, the meal was spectacular :ninja:

Only in situations where it clearly will bother me not to.
The example you gave above, with people being indecisive, would be a perfect one. But it would take quite some time before being outspoken in it.
If it is at work however, for me it is different. I most of the time find more ease with determination, decisions and taking initiative there.
I think I put more priority on it there. Why it is easier, I don't really know. I have the same with socialising and contact. If for work, I'm by far more easy to motivate. However, when I consider things pointless, I won't give an inch.

Actually the same thing as you posted OP. Some indecisive friends were being indecisive if we should buy orange or lemon juice. And then I went "Ok we're buying the lemon one alright."

Most of the time, I take the initiative when I want to get things done really quick so that I could also retreat to my bunk and return to my state of peaceful isolation.

I usually take initiative in group projects because no one else will. If at all possible, I avoid these situations, but I am bound to encounter them every so often.
